Just curious is this Anderson County's first time in the 8th region finals since 1985 when they were led by Orbrey Gritton.

 

 

Oldham, led by Jeff Griffin, won the 1985 8th region title, upsetting a Top 5 Scott Co team in the finals ...Anderson (with Gritton) lost to Scott on a Frank Persley buzzer beater in the semifinals

Anderson was beat by Scott County in the 95 finals, after being up 7 with 3:00 minutes left. Won it in 97. First trip back to Finals since 97.

Penny is a really good player and fun to watch.

Gallatin was up 4 with 14 seconds left. Coty Minnis got an "and 1" to cut it to 1. Shelby then fouled the inbounds and Gallatin made 1 of 2. On Shelby's next poss. Minnis again got an "and 1" to put them up 1 with 6 seconds left. Gallatins buzzer beater missed. :cry::ohbrother:

This was one of the best high school games i have watched in a while. And what a way for Penney to go out:ylsuper:

Congrats to Anderson County and Glen Drury! Class-act coach who deserves another shot at the brass ring.

 

To Shelby County, a tremendous effort! The Rockets really came on strong since Feb. 1 (only two losses, one by 6 to Anderson in the district final and the region final loss to AC), and could have won this one had they not shot less than 50% at the line. With the score 49 all and 4.2 seconds to play, Beckley's miss of the front end of the 1 and 1 was the story of the entire game for Shelby...

 

Both teams put on a show to remember...
