Spring ball is over for the Birds. Looks like the Birds are going to have a pretty decent team. I don't think that there were any injury's. Hit the weight's for the next three month's and get faster, stronger, and more athletic!

When you consider how many juniors the Bluebirds had last year who were major contributors, and when you consider the quality of the guy (Will Bardo) who's replacing the graduating QB from last year, it's easy to think that ON PAPER the 2009 version will be better than last year's team. However, football is a game played on the field and not on paper. Last year's squad walked the walk... we'll know what the 2009 squad does by mid December.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't care if they are better or worse than last year's team. I just want them to be better than every opponent they face this year. :thumb:

No one below the current freshmen can take part in Spring Practice with the varsity.

 

 

 

Is that a rule by the khsaa? I was lead to believe that incoming freshman are considered middle schoolers still, and were not able to be envolved with spring practice. If this allowed by khsaa, please tell me where I can see the rules on this. thanks:sssh:

Bylaw 25. Limitation of Seasons

Sec. 5) Sports Specific Limitations -

Football - Boys

 

(8) Each football school may conduct ten (10) practice

periods of not more than two (2) hours in length and not

more than one practice per day over ten (10) days

during the three calendar school weeks following the

school’s elimination from post-season play in basketball.

All equipment authorized by the football playing rules

may be used during this period. There can be no interschool

competition during this period, and all

participants must be eligible according to all KHSAA

eligibility rules.

 

 

 

Bylaw 4. Enrollment

d) Pupils in grades 1-8 may play on the high school team if

such participation is not in conflict with Section ©

above, and the time so played shall not be counted on

the eight (8) semester limit. EXCEPTION: Students

below grade nine (9) may not participate on the varsity

team in contests in the sports of football or soccer, and

students enrolled below grade seven (7) may not

participate on the varsity level in wrestling. The

provisions of this restriction shall not apply to nonvarsity

Players, who are not currently in the grades of 9-12, are not allowed to participate in Spring Practice with the varsity. But, there is nothing to say that a school can not have a Jr High Spring Practice that allows the current 7-8 grades participate in. But, I would not chance allowing it to happen very close to the varsity spring practice.
