I will give you the short version( Leatherneck long edition) of today's scrimmage. The Bird's are going to have a very balanced attack. Will Bardo looked like it was the middle of the season. He ran with the ball when the defense made him and threw some great passes when he had too. Austin Collinsworth looked awesome at running back (80 yard td run on counter on thefirst play). It's going to be exciting to watch him at rb. this year. Those were the two that stood out the most.

Why? That just adds another receiver out of the backfield. They have a lot of receivers besides Collinsworth.

 

HHS runs GT a ton. Yes they can throw but that play along with the QB draw draw seem to be staples of the offense. I bet the counter Collinsworth scored on was a GT.

Welz has been playing TE all spring. He has not had any reps on the line, from what I hear. With Roller still recuperating, I don't think there are too many other viable TE options, or at least any with experience.

Does Hogue play WR or TE on offense? Where will he figure in the offensive mix in 2009, with so many talented receivers (Collinsworth coming out of the backfield, Buten, Gold, Roller and Welz)?

I was told yesterday and I quote "fast, very fast". Didn't expect anything different.

Bardo has a nice combination of speed and a strong arm and with AC in the backfield they might have one of the speediest backfields in the State.

I know the birds have a lot of talent at the LB position,like always.Does anybody know who the starters might be? Is there any sophomores or juniors who might have a chance of starting at LB this year for the birds? It seems to me that the defense is always intense. There is never a shortage of intensity at HHS on defense or offense ,thats what makes them great!

They were on the field today and will be there on Wednesday and Friday this week. They'll follow the same schedule next week. Intrasquad scrimmages are scheduled for both Friday's.

The team enters the final week of spring ball tomorrow. Already seen major improvement from day one for many of them.

They will be getting started around 4 o'clock like they have been doing last two weeks.
