I've played, watched as a fan, and coached in the 16th and Bob Kouns isn't even in the top 10 IMO. Do I think he is the worst.......probably not, but he is definitely not a "top" official.

I believe Marla Gearheart is probably one of the top officials in the 16th.

I would rather see an official miss calls both ways all game, than to not make a call all game and then charge in and make a game determining call that noone else sees. If that is what makes a great official, he should be in the NBA!

Bobby must be doing something right. He is completing his 40th straight year of officiating a region tournament! That is quite an accomplishment that probably no other official in state history has accomplished

That is a testament to what is wrong in the world of officiating, not what is right.

The KHSAA is ALWAYS looking for men and women who want to return something to their school and community by becoming a licensed athletic official. Candidates should be at least 18 years old, a high school graduate, in good physical condition, and able to make decisions on their feet and stick to them.

Hey, you knew somebody was going to post this link, might as well be me tonight. I am kinda tired of hearing about the officiating. My grandpa always said not to criticize what someone else does unless you can do it better. Here is your chance!

Question for everyone: Have you ever been in a gym before the crew came out, and when they appeared, there was a collective groan from the crowd? Saw that happen twice this season, and I simply had to laugh. I guess I should stay on track here. I think Greenhill and Hall are the top 2 in the 16th. And like players and coaches, officials have good nights and bad nights. But for the most part, the 2 I mentioned are the most consistent IMO and for that reason alone, I think they are tops.

Thats what I said was some or maybe one of the criticizer's is an official.

 

Also some will stand for right even if they are involved with the guilty parties.

 

If you are in physical shape officiating isn't that tough a job. Believe me I know.

Dawg (and other 9th region fans), I guess you can now understand some of the comments that 16th fans have made over the course of the season. Sometimes it's easy to respond to comments that appear as excuses or whiny but hopefully now that we have walked in each others shoes we can relate a little better to comments made in the future. I know that I sure have a better understanding of the comments made by the 9th region if those in attendance at our games are the best your region has to offer.

No one knows. He hasn't attempted to put forced air into it since the 1946 Regional Championship game.
