Horrible!!!

I get the feeling the fans in the 16th wouldn't be satisfied with NCAA or NBA officials. Quit crying about officials.

Ha Ha Ha Ha, I've watched basketball in the 16th for numerous years now and I dont know if their is a remotely decent official in the 16th. Most of them play favorites to what the name on the jersey reads. Therefore, Im going to go with Bob Kouns. He doesnt care what teams are playing, lets the teams play hard nose physical basketball, and doesnt overblow the whistle.

As long as Ashlands involved he will continue to do what he does best steer the game to his desired outcome.

How do you know the ones that are doing the criticizing couldn't do it better,

AND that some of the criticizers aren't already official's and are just stating their true belief's.

If they are officials how come they aren't working regional games themselves. If they truly are better they would have been voted in, BY THE 16TH REGION COACHES, to do the games. Apparently the people that count don't think they are better.

Kouns has been doing better and longer than anyone else.

As an outsider from the 9th region with no familiarity of the 16th region officials I find it curious that this thread was started by someone with a screen name of Koun Dog and lists Bob Kouns twice as an option?

Great Post!!

Great post

So If I do something for a long time I'm automatically going to be better??? Interesting...... I must be great at sleeping and eating since I've done those for 40 years.

:clap::clap:

Kouns may be the nicest man in the world...... I don't know him. But I do know he is NOT a TOP official in the 16th.

Yeah and he is laughing all the way to Rupp.:sssh:

16th Region coaches have seem to agree for a few years as well.

Here's one 16th region fan who will not complain about the officials. I find it ironic, comedic, and even fitting that the 16th region fans complains about the officiating from the 9th region (and vice versa).

I'm just glad that these men and women are willing to sacrifice of their time, effort, and abilities to promote healthy competition among high school athletes. Do I take sports too seriously? You bet. Do I complain at the officials at a game? Yep. Can I do a better job than them? No way.

Oh, and Marla Gearheart? I have been to many 16th region games this year and have not seen her? Heard lots of rumors; officiating college games, starting a family, and even that she had decided to no longer call games.

Glad she's still out there. I think she has done some good officiating in the past.

I saw her the other night in a 9th region game and knew she did college ball by the way she gave the number on a foul call. College officials do it with 2 hands while most high school officials use only one, giving the first number then the second.i.e. foul on 21 would be given with a 2 and then a 1 using the same hand. She did it by holding up 2 fingers on her right hand and 1 finger on her left simaltaneously.

I find it ironic that people start a thread and ask for opinions on refs then people get defensive when opinions are given. This thread was started by someone who wanted opinions. Thats what they are getting, both good and bad. I think everyone would agree that being a ref is NOT easy and nobody is perfect.
