You might not like it, but there are only a couple schools (Owensboro? Henry Clay?) that can tout a "tradition" that is "richer" than Ashland.

Ashland has the winningest program in the state.

The Tomcats were behind the entire 2nd, 3rd and 4th periods until the last second of the game. It would have been easy to have given in to the inevitable when Jackson was dropping those triples a little earlier. Ashland never gave up and eeked out a very hard fought win. Fairview played, what I thought, was very good defense the whole game. Almost every shot Ashland took was contested. This makes the 3rd game between these two teams this year in which the outcome has been determined by one point. Great effort by all !

We need Smiles for sour grapes. I guess. I was not saying anything against anyone just stating a fact. How many people gave Ashland any chance of winning the district. I for one did not.

Great game! Hated to see either team lose.

The Cats had to face the number 1 & 2 seeded teams in the 64th to win the championship. And you are exactly right, doubtful that many gave Ashland a ghost of a chance. But that's why they go ahead and actually play the games. I thought they showed a lot of character during this tournament, as did every team in the district. Saw some great basketball this past week!

Don't worry Tiny. I know why you're upset. I'll take care of it.

Wow another close game between these two schools. Heres the scores from all there games this year.

Dec 29 Fairview 61 Ashland 50

Jan 2- Ashland 54 Fairview 53

Jan 20 Fairview 55 Ashland 54

Tonight Ashland 53 Fairview 52

Talk about a good match up. Out of four games they both won two and the last three look like the same game with a one point win in the 50's. This is great basketball!

You're saying that the Tomcat players, current and past, involved with this years' district championship are living in the past?

Have you read all of the post in the thread? Someone mentioned how great Ashland's tradition was, and listed all of the great things that the Tomcats have done over the years. I was just listing one he had left out.

Nice win Tomcats.

My bad.

The timeout Cooksey called with just a little over a second left lost this game. Ashland was out of t/o's. They couldn't stop the clock. He did it for them and gave them a chance to set up a play. If Ashland would have had to make the inbounds play on the fly, I believe this game would have had a different ending.

I was not at the game but missing 7 fts down the stretch may have been important in the loss. Coach Cooksey has done a super job with this team and put them in a position to win.
