Ashland 53 Fairview 52

Congrats to the Tomcats. Good luck @ Morehead.

The Eagles had this one where they wanted with Ashland forced to foul in the last two minutes. We just didn't convert at the line. Back to work and both of these theams could do well @ regional.

I think all teams can do well until they run into Elliott.

-32 regional titles

-4 state titles

-4 state runners-up

You might not like it, but there are only a couple schools (Owensboro? Henry Clay?) that can tout a "tradition" that is "richer" than Ashland.

Ashland has the winningest program in the state.

:thumb: That could have something to do with tradition. :D

We need Smiles for sour grapes. I guess. I was not saying anything against anyone just stating a fact. How many people gave Ashland any chance of winning the district. I for one did not.
I can honestly say that I thought that they would, imo a person can pick Ashland to win the 64th every year and be right more times than not.

Don't worry Tiny. I know why you're upset. I'll take care of it.

:lol::lol: Here we go some more!

But you just can't hardly win on Ashland's court, no matter how hard you try.:idunno:

Good Luck to you all as you all head to Morehead!!! :thumb:

1. :ohbrother:.......if I remember correctly, didn't Fairview beat Ashland on Ashlands court in the A.I.T. earlier this season? Also, by another post in this thread it seems to me that Fairview didn't beat Ashland on their court in this one bc they missed several (7 I believe) FT's in the 4th qtr.. A 1 pt. game, 7 missed FT's, seems to me that would have had more to do with it than where they were playing. :idunno: :D

2. I agree, good luck to both teams in the regional.

The Cats had to face the number 1 & 2 seeded teams in the 64th to win the championship. And you are exactly right, doubtful that many gave Ashland a ghost of a chance. But that's why they go ahead and actually play the games. I thought they showed a lot of character during this tournament, as did every team in the district. Saw some great basketball this past week!

I thought Ashland was the 2 seed in the district.

I dont know why any one would not give them a ghost chance of winning it, I thought they split with Fairview and Rosehill in the season.

I believe the seeding was as follows.

1. Fairview

2. Rose Hill

3. Ashland

4. Boyd County

I felt bad for Fairview's loss. But you just can't hardly win on Ashland's court, no matter how hard you try.:idunno: Eagles you have nothing to be ashamed of, you guys played an awesome game tonight!!! Good Luck to you all as you all head to Morehead!!! :thumb:

Its not to hard if you hit your free throws!

I believe the seeding was as follows.

1. Fairview

2. Rose Hill

3. Ashland

4. Boyd County

Ashland was 4-2 in the district Rose Hill was 3-3.

LRCW, you brought up the 1928 team. I know someone from Carr Creek and they said that Kouns was one of the officials for that game.

FWIW, the fouls in this game was virtually even until Ashland started fouling at the end of the game. The officials let each team play.

I believe the seeding was as follows.

1. Fairview

2. Rose Hill

3. Ashland

4. Boyd County

No the seeding was Fairview 5-1, Ashland 4-2, Rose Hill 3-3, Boyd County.

Ashland was 4-2 in the district Rose Hill was 3-3.

:laugh: Thanks for the correction. I should have known better to doubt smokeandmirrors, and you're probably right about Kouns.

Fairview certainly had their opprotunities to seal the deal. 4 of 15 from the foul line is bad but when you factor in that they missed three straight bonus shots it's even worse.

Big kudos to Delaney for his clutch shot.

I think Ashland lead a charmed life this week. Not taking anything away from their players because they play hard but it seemed like they got a ton of breaks. The free throw situation vs. Rose Hill, Fairview missing ft after ft, and then the time out call by Cooksey. It does look like their luck ran out this morning we they drew into Elliott's side of the bracket.

Not the best game to watch but the Tomcats pulled it out with a clutch/lucky shot. Great win for the Tomcats!

I agree with the clutch part of your statement but somehow I believe there was a little more than just luck involved with this shot. Kids grow up dreaming of hitting game winning shots in championship games so lets give this kid some credit for living the dream. Congrads Dylan Delaney!!

I tend to feel you make your own breaks. In addition, if you look at the replay Ashland was lining up in the same out of bounds set before the time out as after the time out so I am not sure the time out call had any bearing on the outcome. Its always easy to second guess coachs when things don't work out in these situations.

I generally agree about making your own breaks but a team missing that many free throws is a break. I still think the timeout really helped Ashland get organized. Not second guessing I was suprised at the time.

I agree it was a clutch shot. I don't think Delaney making a 15 footer is luck he is an excellent shooter.
