No the seeding was Fairview 5-1, Ashland 4-2, Rose Hill 3-3, Boyd County.

 

Right, forgot that Fairview won twice.

I generally agree about making your own breaks but a team missing that many free throws is a break. I still think the timeout really helped Ashland get organized. Not second guessing I was suprised at the time.

 

Games of this nature are won and loss at the free throw line. Ultimately this one is pinned on the misses from the line. I didn't agree with the timeout with 1.7 either, but that didn't lose the game. Great game by both teams, awesome atmosphere, best of luck to both teams in region play.

The barefoot boys from Carr Creek lost to Ashland in 4 overtimes, but Carr Creek was small school division.

I agree with your assessment that in close games between teams of similiar talent , the free throw line is the difference. This was true In The Districts this year.

Ashland won in the semis at the line and Fairview lost in the finals at the line.

:thumb: Usually in any game imo any team can look at their missed free throws along turnovers, (especially unforced turnovers) and get a pretty good idea of where they could have played better and turned things around. JMO

 

I know someone from Carr Creek and they said that Kouns was one of the officials for that game.

Gee wheez. I wonder how many players the coach ran off that year. I think this more evidence that Kouns officiated then, because Ashland couldn't have afforded to have anybody foul out that year.

There are more but these are the ones that I remember: Stai from Fairview,

Bonner from Ashland, Terry from Rose Hill and Gambill from Rose Hill.

 

Some of the others were Jacob Mayse and Trey Salisbury from Boyd Co., both Freshmen! Wetzel and Delaney from Ashland plus one more. Jackson and another from Fairview. Eleven altogether.

 

As for the game...it was an amazing atmosphere! Just like the "good ol' days". Two huge student sections all decked out in paint and gear, both pep bands, standing room only. Very exciting to watch. Showed the importance of hitting your free throws!!!
