Rich Shumate has done a hell of a job and this may be the best Beechwood team I have ever seen. Having said that, I think this shows just how tough Holmes is when they guard. The fact that the all-district team and tourney mvp did not include Rico or Pittman tells me that this team is peaking at the right time, just like the last two seasons. I really believe this is the year Bulldog Tech cuts down the nets.

If you are saying upper echelon means Holmes-like talent, I agree. But Holmes is ahead of everyone in N. Ky. in talent by far so that isn't a fair comparison. There are only a few teams in the state that can compare themselves to the talent Holmes has right now. Beechwood's talent this year is competitive with anyone else in the region, including Boone County. Beechwood has enough talent to beat Boone, but if they played ten times Boone is going to win 7 of 10. Every team in N. Ky. would take Beuttel in a heart beat. Romes takes a back seat to very few in the region in athleticism. Beechwood has talent this year.

I would say Beechwood might beat Boone 1 of 10. I think you are underestimating Boone.

I think Beechwood might struggle in the region because they aren't very deep. They only play six guys. On a college court, they might struggle, especially if someone presses the entire game.

I think the key comment there is about pressing. Beechwood has struggled some against presses. I think they may have solved that by using Snyder to help bring the ball up against a press. But as to the college court, ironically I think that may help Beechwood. Despite only playing 6 or 7 guys, they have good quickness and like to push the ball up court. The big court may actualy help Beechwood offensively.

I think the closest team Beechwood would compete against is St. Henry. That St. Henry has the better coach and therefore would pull it out. Beechwood loses by 10 to New Cath or Highlands and 15 to Boone.

A college court will help Beechwood because they like to run so they can spread teams out and attack.

If BW's strength is getting around their defenders and penetrating why do you think the other team's coach would have them come out further and make it easier?

If Beechwood draws anyone other than Boone, they will win a game at the regional, maybe two. I don't think they can beat Boone or Holmes but they can beat any other team in the region (ask Highlands).

Beechwood is capable of winning a game or possibly two but the cards will be stacked against them if they draw the Birds on a nuetral court, trust me. The Birds played one of their worst games of the year and they still should have won that game if a shot by Grote from 12ft with 2 sec left in regulation doesnt rim out. They didnt have Grubbs in that game either. I think Highlands is 10 pts better than the Tigers on any night now with Grubbs.

Tell me it wouldn't look good in the Feildhouse at Holmes. :thumb:

I guess Beechwood doesn't have to worry about the Birds in round one of the region. Highlands got beat tonight by NCC worse than Holmes beat Beechwood.
