My point exactly then try a zone where they have help. I agree it was unreal the way he plays and only gets 1 foul. Or they could have done what Ashland did to Gregg whenever he got the ball on the post doubled him. Ashland said we are going to double Gregg, Kennedy, or terry on the post and make one of the guards hit a shot. I do not remember either #10 or #3 hitting a shot from the floor.

 

Bonner had 4 field goals and 4 rebounds and made 8 free throws. He wasn't exactly dominating inside like you seem to remember. I remember Rose Hill doubling on him several times but when they did a whistle blew. If you think that they wouldn't have been whistled for the same fouls just because they were in a zone ..............................

 

#10 and #3 combined to go 0 for 3. Once again when the bigs were doubled Rose Hill hit shots. They were 8 for 20 behind the arc, a good percentage. Not good enough to overcome a 27 free throw differnce. I just think that the 16th region is the "no block shot region".

Bonner is usually the most physical player, but tonite I thought he played very tentative on defense. He didn't get the rebounds he usually does and didn't even seem to be going for them until late in the game, which could mean he was trying to avoid getting fouls called. I thought both him and Johnson didn't challenge for rebounds at all until the 4th quarter.

 

Im never fond of the white haired guy's calls....actually he doesn't even call that much anymore. He sort of supervises the other 2 refs. I bet he didn't blow his whistle more than 5 times tonite. Oh well, good game for both teams. I'm glad to see Ashland get to go to Morehead. It's tournament time folks where anything can happen.

SolidBlue, I'm only a fan of the game but for anyone to say a foul shot discrepancy like tonite wasn't the Deciding IMPACT on the game really doesn't grasp the entire game and how it's won. Any team that loses in every single category of a game (i.e rebounds, shots, threes, shooting % etc. etc. etc.) and STILL wins the game because they took 30 more foul shots....... that's the DECIDING FACTOR.

I realize this post is going to sound hypocritical from me, especially since I was not at the game. I am as bad as any to blast posters for blaming a loss on the officials. I cant understand, however how a certain official can pick the games he calls, when it has been complained for decades how he always makes controversial calls in a couple of teams favor.

 

I feel that I am being very kind by using the word controversial. I will leave it at that.

In responce to the biased calls by the striped suits. If anyone had been paying attention after the game, you would have seen the officials hugging the Ashland coaching staff at the score box. .

It is my understand through a pm that the official in questions was scratched by Rose Hill last year. Is this true and if so does he have an axe to grind?

 

With that said I didn't think he was the worst of the bunch tonight.

I guess Rose Hill will just have to worry about those young players moving to Georgetown if their fathers get jobs there. No wait, they can just get some more players from Carter County......

Coach Biggs was out of control exuberant! He was hugging and being hugged by everyone. I didn't see any officials around after but I won't dispute this comment.

Actually, he did blow his whistle more than five times but only one inconsequential time against Ashland. He called fouls, travelling, and various and sundry other turnovers and, of course, the convenient "possession" timeout but all of those were in one direction.

 

Another item of interest is that Ashland committed only 5 turnovers for the entire game. How's that for near perfection?

iIt is pretty hard to get a stop when the zebras are calling fouls on you like they did. And the other team is shooting a free throw ever 50 secs.
