You've got to be kidding? First off, Some fans are not giving ANY credit to the Ashland ball players and for their effort in winning the game. Many of these fans are basically saying that the refs literally stole the game from their team. This is not graceful losing and it does not recognize the accomplishments of the other team. Basically it cheapens the win for all of the Ashland players who had no hand in the officiating of this contest. Second, this officiating controversy has just opened the door, once again, to snide comments between Ashland and Rose Hill fans. If I wasn't from this area and were reading these posts for the first time I believe the "intense dislike" between these 2 schools would be apparent. I do not consider this good sportsmanship between fans.

I disagree totally. No one has hacked on a single kid, or coach in this entire thread. If you feel slighted by all means sing the praises of the kids, but no one has been derrogatory in their remarks. In fact, I read several praises for Whetsel, Bonner and the like. Again, I don't see it.

Again, as an non-RH and non-Ashland fan (actually I don't dislike either team) if the purpose of all these posts is to point out your displease with the refs then I believe that you have sufficiently made your point. You are not going to get Asahland fans to agree with you. Stop beating the horse, its already dead.

His "factual quotes are tiresome" because they are counter to what you wish to believe. The Ashland kids played hard. No one is saying otherwise. But if you are so blinded by the glorious victory that you either can't or refuse to admit the officiating played a huge role in the win, then just kick back and enjoy the win. And make sure the Tomcat players concentrate on free throws at practice. Kouns may be calling your next game, also.

 

If his posts weren't peppered with sarcasm throughout toward the Ashland program as if they had something to do with this supposed "conspiracy" they would be a little easier to digest. If he wants to be taken seriously, he needs to refrain from the snide comments. Also, crowing on this message board won't accomplish anything except to further fuel this ridiculously out of hand rivalry. I originally came to the board for information about other teams in the region. The fact that we are allowed to attack one another's programs annonymously is not particularily pleasing to me. However, when Ashland is constantly berrated by die hard fans of other teams I can't help but be drawn into it myself.

 

I guess I will defer to the old adage that if "someone is talking about you, they are leaving someone else alone". Talk is cheap people...only actions speak.

Thankfully, no one has the bad taste to point out a specific kid and I respect that (although questionable comments about the Ashland coach's relationship with the officials were made), but the program bashing in unbelieveable. Not a great example to be setting for the kids. JMO

The Ashland program isn't being slammed. The bias of a particular official for Ashland is. And, although I didn't witness it, if what was said about the Ashland coaching staff and game officials hugging after the game, then yes, that creates a huge cloud over not only this win, but the integrity of the program. As stated earlier, nothing derogatory is being said about the kids. The adults involved, now that is another story.

No it isn't but this is a classic example of adults, parents, etc. ruining sports for kids because of the constant nashing of teeth. Whatever I have done to help fuel this, I am ashamed of myself. Sports should be fun and left on the field or floor, not an ongoing hate. I see little Christian spirit by any of the Rose Hill supporters or our fans on this board. We all should know better.

They are moving on which is what it is all about. If the game had been reversed, I would also be pleased that my team was moving on. Still, with the 37-10 and 5, I would have enough integrity to at least try to explain the unconscionable disparity. If I could not do so, as seems to be the case with the Ashlanders, I would be a bit embarrassed. I certainly would not dismiss it like it had no bearing on the outcome.

Then Old Shooter, take it to the officials. You do come off sounding like the end all and be all to basketball. I have no explanation other than I was there and only thought there were a couple of questionable calls. I saw players "walk for both teams and not called (both teams). I saw kids carrying the ball and not called (both teams). I also don't understand how a kid can have 22 points and only commit 1 foul, but I'm not seriously questioning that. It's over. :deadhorse:

If you are seeking a valid explanation do you really expect to get it from spectators? Take it to authority figures. Maybe they can either explain why the calls were made or possibly find your concerns valid.
