They mean around the scorers table. Biggs was beside himself with the win as well he should have been. The T-Cats played their hearts out after a slow start. This was a very exciting game to watch that could have gone either way down to the wire. Mike Terry was absolutely outstanding and impossible to guard. Scott Gambill also was impressive with some big 3's. #3 and #10, in my opinion, definitley committed the fouls they were charged with. I did think a couple of others were questionable but I also thought Ashland got a couple of questionable calls.

 

With that said, Congratulations to the Ashland Tomcats and Coach Biggs!!!!!

Ashland attacked the basket tonight which will result in more contact thus more fouls called. Rose Hill settled for jump shots. When they were hitting they had the lead, when they went cold Ashland assumed control of the game. Both teams fought hard, both coaches coached hard. Great game to watch. I didnt think the referees had anything to do with who won the game.

The guy who assigns officials is an Ashland graduate and former performer for its athletic program. Maybe a less connected assigning secretary would be preferable.

 

In answer to the question of Newman, Kouns was "blacklisted" from RH games last year by Coach Fraley. Kouns seemed to have a problem with, among other issues, Chad Jackson's jersey.

 

I don't want to imply that Kouns cheats. However, he does have a closeness to Ashland and its "mode of operation" on the floor. And, as I said in the other thread, favoritism is not always a conscious act. The subconscious, strongly influenced by familiarity as is the case here, can make a devastating difference in the end.

 

As for Biggs hugging everyone, including the officials, I can believe he was euphoric. Those 37 foul shots probably saved his job- at least for a year.

In responce to the biased calls by the striped suits. If anyone had been paying attention after the game, you would have seen the officials hugging the Ashland coaching staff at the score box. .

Ashland shot 37 foul shots. Rose Hill shot 10. Rose Hill outrscored Ashland by 16 from the field but lost by 20 at the foul line.

 

You can throw out the last four fouls by RH because they were to stop the clock. RH still committed over twice as many as Ashland.

 

Ashland pressed the whole game. Rose Hill never pressed.

 

The official mentioned in my earlier posts called one, yes one, foul on Ashland the whole game and that was a nonshooting foul with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the game. He called nothing negative against Ashland other than the one foul- no turnovers, no nothing. He called several fouls against RH as well as a material number of turnovers.

 

Now before some of you partisans get too upset let me say that I am merely reporting the facts from the available statistics. Disprove what I said in the previous thread and in this post if you can. You cannot do so.

 

I'm not crying "foul" or "cheat". I am merely stating how Ashland won with facts that cannot be denied. And, as LRCW stated, I predicted it long before the game.

 

By the way, Fairview will be in a similar scenerio Friday night if we have our resident official.

 

All in all, the game should be a wake up call for RH for the next 3 or 4 years. Under normal circumstances, they should have the upper hand. Tonight's affair was obviously not normal circumstances.

 

I totally agree with you old shooter!!! I don't think I could have said it any better myself!!!!

 

I was at the game with my children and pretty much knew what it was going to be like because of whom the referee was going to be for the evening. What old shooter is saying is absolutely true. The fouls were so uneven, I have never seen anything like it in all my years of watching high school basketball games. For example, Bonner was pushing on Gregg and pulling on Gregg's jersey all night long and nothing gets called. I hope these ref's are proud of the job they did. Me personally, I think they never need to ref again, take away their whistles!!!!

 

Good Luck to the Eagles on Friday. I for one hope you all will have different officials or I'm afraid you all will meet the same fate we did tonight. Eagles, I hope you win by 20+.

Old Shooter, I have a question for you since you predicted this would happen a couple of days ago. You also seem to have alot of knowledge of the way things are in our neck of the woods.

 

Were YOU surprised by the Degree of differences in how the game was called for the teams and the number of foul shots.

No question. Why stay around and give the coaches , fans, and players more chances to yell at you. Heck, sticking around could be bad for a player or coach. One of them might think that since the game is over that the official is fair game. Not true. The official can still eject a player or coach.

 

You take too many chances by sticking around.

Clyde is absolutely correct. The referees normally leave the floor immediately. Of course, they may have hung around to be presented the game ball.

 

By the way, did any of the referees approach Coach Bush to shake his hand (no hug expected)? You know the answer as well as do I.

So you think 2 of Ashland's 11 fouls were questionable? In your opinion they should have only been whistled for 9 fouls.
