Thats why I said I felt they should have went to a zone Ashland was scoring every time down either driving to basket and getting fouled or Bonner down inside.

Grant it, Royal Uncle the refs were bad especially one but I think if the Hill would have made that coaching move it would not have been so easy to call all of those fouls and Rose Hill could have still won the game in spite of the refs. JMO

 

I understand what you are saying, but no team should have to do something in order to win "in spite of the refs." The best refs are the ones that don't get mentioned in threads like this, not the clown crew that was on the floor tonight. I was wondering who was in the small car that looked like it was full of stripes I saw pulling in before the game. Now I know.

I am one of the biggest RH fans you will ever meet and have blamed the officials for their loses before. And they did have an impact on the game tonight but there are other things that helped determine the outcome as well. And despite all the fouls that were being called RH had the lead in the fourth quater and couldn't get the defensive stop they needed. I think that had more of an impact that officials.

 

SolidBlue, I'm only a fan of the game but for anyone to say a foul shot discrepancy like tonite wasn't the Deciding IMPACT on the game really doesn't grasp the entire game and how it's won. Any team that loses in every single category of a game (i.e rebounds, shots, threes, shooting % etc. etc. etc.) and STILL wins the game because they took 30 more foul shots....... that's the DECIDING FACTOR.

I agree with that about the refs but a coach should do what is needed for his team to win and advance and it did not take a rocket scientist to see they could not stop Bonner, and Ashland was getting into the paint off of the dribble when they wanted. Gregg's knee was bothering him. Plus Kennedy was having one of his better games I had saw and by going to a zone he could have played more instead of trying to guard Bonner with three or four fouls. I just think Rose Hill would have won tonight if they had played some zone. Make Ashland soot 20+footers with someone on them instead of foul shots with no one guarding them.

Just for the record Ashland averaged 20 free throw attempts per game going into this contest.

Ashland didn't have an answer for Terry he scored at will but to me in fairness Rose Hill never got a call when they went to the basket. If I remember correctly Ashland got 3 quick call early in the game one each on Skaggs, Delaney, and Johnson and then only 8 more fouls for the remaining 29 miniutes or so. Really strange.

If old shooter is correct and he only made one call against the Tomcats tonight then that is, well, odd. However, I think he is shouldering the blame and is taking all the shots but the other two officials didn't help you guys much either.

 

To me this one is tough to enjoy.

That being said, Rose hill clearly benefited from two non-calls when Bush slid about three feet on his back with the ball .

 

The only way that's a violation is IF he had control of the ball BEFORE he went to the floor. If he slid after hitting the floor first and then gaining control he can slide the entire length of the floor.

Bonner is one of the most "gifted" players I have ever seen. He holds, shoves, butts, uses his various football moves, etc. but never commits a foul.

 

How can you stop such a player particularly when you are in early foul trouble as were Kennedy, Parsons, and a couple more?

Maybe so but it is easy to look back and say that. I thought there were more than one block shot call that I would have questioned, in particular the one on Kennedy in the 3rd quarter. For the record the old referee didn't make that call.

 

I just did see enough of a difference in how the teams played for one to have 24 fouls and shot 10 ft's and the other to only have 11 fouls and shoot 37 ft's. I mean it would seem to me that one team would almost have to be trying to foul for that to happen and that wasn't the case. I do think RH fouled 3 times in the last 30 seconds or so but take those out and it is still 31 to 10 on free throws. Nearly impossible.

How does the most physical player on the floor,Bonner from Ashland,have 1 foul and the 3 players who played mostly inside for RH (Gregg,Kennedy,Parsons) have 11 between them.:ohbrother:

It's easy for a team to attack the basket when they know they won't have fouls called against them............ Evidently some people didn't watch the entire game. RH's two bigs were in foul trouble the whole game. when they weren't in foul trouble early they were dominating in the paint.

RH shot 20 threes (5 or so at the end of the game), Ashland shot 16. Rose Hill had 8 offensive rebounds, Ashland had 4.

 

Going to the basket doesn't necessary result in more free throws.

My point exactly then try a zone where they have help. I agree it was unreal the way he plays and only gets 1 foul. Or they could have done what Ashland did to Gregg whenever he got the ball on the post doubled him. Ashland said we are going to double Gregg, Kennedy, or terry on the post and make one of the guards hit a shot. I do not remember either #10 or #3 hitting a shot from the floor.
