1st appearance in spring training, I don't think we need to get too worried this early.

I heard he gave up a couple of infield singles and a homerun, so hopefully that was only 1 bad pitch.

How is Alonso doing? Is he in the picture for 09?

I read he had a 2 run error at first against the Twins.

Reds beat the World Champion Phillies 10-3. Some highlights of the game.

Arroyo pitches 2 innings giving up a run

Votto with 2 hits, one a HR, and two RBI

Gomes 2 hits, and 2 RBI

Maloney 2 innings, 2 runs

Thompson gets the win with 2 scoreless innings.

Hanigan a hit and 2 RBI

Juan Francisco with another good showing as well. I think he's going to be a good one in time, real good.:ylsuper:

That kid has unreal upside. He could be a monster.

He's going to have get a little control of the strike zone. A 7-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the low minors isn't a good indicator of success as he moves up the ladder.

62 walks and 353 strikeouts in 1,426 minor league at-bats.

Agreed but he is really young and is a very free swinger right now. Once he gets some more coaching and experience he will be able to start to control it better. At least that's what we all hope. :D He set a winter league record for most HR's by a lefty.

Yeah, and it's getting worse the higher he goes ... 42 and 284 in two years of Class A ball.

It's just awfully hard to rid a guy of those habits. He's still young enough to work with it, but the odds are probably against him.

So what is the opening day lineup looking like?
