Track The Reds (Spring Training)

Guess that could be a little lower. He had really struggled with that in the past. I sure would like to see him start coming of age this season.

15 pitches per inning with 4 K's isn't too bad...

And he's only 23. :D

Agreed:thumb:

You're very possibly right about the 75 wins, but surely you jest basing it on a spring training game.

:thumb: It was in jest however, it wasn't any sillier than some of the Reds fans excitement over the first couple or 3 Reds wins.

Gonzo in the lineup today as DH and will do the same tomorrow. He should be ready for some full action next week.

If he's 100% why is he not playing? Is it a conditioning issue?

First time against live pitching. Dusty said he wants him to get his natural movements down first.

Big help if he stays healthy.

I agree it will be a long year at SS with Keppy and Hairston.

I agree it will be a long year at SS with Keppy and Hairston.

I think it'll be a long year with Gonzalez too. He's better defensively, but he hasn't played in what, 2 years?

If Gonzalez can play it makes this team a lot better. He is the best with the glove and if he can hit like he did in '07 maybe we can have some hope.

He could help out a lot but there's kind of an ominous line in the write up of the game:

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP)—Alex Gonzalez was relieved to be back on the field.

Gonzalez singled in two at-bats as the designated hitter after missing all of last season with a knee injury, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Netherlands 4-3 in 10 innings on Wednesday night.

He felt some tightness in the left knee, which was packed in ice after he was removed.

“Finally, almost a year since I played. My first at-bat I felt good,” Gonzalez said. “I’m looking forward to playing shortstop and being 100 percent to help my team. If I keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’ll be ready for the start of the season.”

That was after DH'ing. Doesn't sound too promising that knee will hold up to 120+ games in the field. Gonzo has not been known for his high pain tolerance over his career. Having him at short for 100+ games will be a suprise.

I agree. Maybe give him a lot of rest and play Keppy more. Gonzalez could also be a late inning replacement.

Reds lose to the Twins today 3-0. No O today and Harang didn't pitch that well.

Reds beat the Phills today 8-4. Chris Valaika hits a grand slam in the 7th to break a 4-4 tie. Hanigan, Alonzo, and Ward also homer for the Reds. Bronson 3 IP 2 runs on three hits.
