Holmes will put a defense on any team and that will cause them to score 24. Then after all that the other team slows it down to try to keep a low scoring game, knowing that it is hard enough to score on Holmes period. Holy Cross couldn't get a shot off, couldn't make it in the Grand Canyon if they wanted to tonite. I have to put this on the table, Henley needs to put some duct tape or something around Arnold's mouth or bench him for the year, :idunno:

I agree and Holmes stepped up tonight. I wanted to see them hold HC below 40. Well, they did that and more. Holy Cross did miss some open looks but Holmes' defense definitely stepped up tonight.

Sounds like some things being blown out of proportion. I think most people that have seen him play much would agree that Pittman, while great most of the time, occassionally flips he on/off switch and doesn't go very hard. In big games he usually steps up. I still don't really understand not starting him though.

Also, Arnold just needs to be told the straighten up some. He would hafta do something pretty bad to warrant a coach sitting him during tournament time.

Also, for whatever reason Holmes seems satisfied playing slow and even a bit boring, but it works well for them.

I honestly believe that this team will have the ability to turn it on when they need to. You play a little differently when your back is against the wall. They just beat a top 15 NKY team by over 20. No need for panic mode yet.

 

I think Holmes will be fine but throwing in that Holy Cross is a top 15 NKY team is silly. I mean being in the top 15 in NKY isn't a big deal.

I agree. I haven't seen many coaches not start a kid that will probably be 1st team all state for defensive purposes.

 

All we have heard about is the athletes & D1 prospects Holmes has so is Pittman not one of them? If he cannot play defense against an avg at best high school team how is he going to play D1 defense? Many in this situation try but usually are unsuccessful. Maybe there is another reason why he sit the 1st 4 minutes of the game?

We thought there was more to the story than reported at the beginning of this thread. Good for Coach Henley. Great coach. Hope lessons are learned for life's sake. BB is just a game.

I agree. It was pretty funny, but very classless. I was surprised the HC administration didn't say anything.

 

I was wondering the same thing though regarding the air horn and drum while Holmes as at the line.

I think Holy Cross has a lot better team than was out there tonite. I like the talent, just wasn't able to use it.

 

I'm not exactly sure what he could have done to have kept the game closer. Holmes is probably about 20 points better than them. If they knock down their FT's and hit a couple of close shots that they missed, but that were contested they may have kept it to single digits. Holmes was focused and played hard. HC wasn't beating them if that was the case.

Exactly, hopefully Eli will understand why he started out on the pine tonight and he can get his act together... It is to crucial a time of the season to have your best or second best player on the bench for these type of things.
