With HC not being a very big team, Henley elected to start Housely to put more quickness on the floor and put more pressure on HC early. Believe what you want, but I have a pretty reliable source that this came from.

You kept saying he didn't start because Holmes wanted to go with a quicker lineup. I guess that source isn't so reliable anymore.

Sometimes watching your team be successful without you adds perspective. Maybe you realize the team doesn't need you and/or you don't have to do it by yourself. Then you realize it is about the team and not about you. I am reminded of Paul Brown's words to his team at the start of every season, "Each of you are important. None of you are necessary."

I agree. It was pretty funny, but very classless. I was surprised the HC administration didn't say anything.

 

I was wondering the same thing though regarding the air horn and drum while Holmes as at the line.

Since Coach Henley went ahead and gave a reason for him not starting, I posted it. Why is the Pittman issue still even being discussed? Is that all anyone can talk about to bring negativity towards Holmes since they won?

There is nothing wrong with talking a little trash during a game, as long as it doesn't cross the line. Pittman has only gotten t'd up once this year, so really I see nothing wrong with him talking to the opponent. It happens at all levels of the game and other high school kids do it as well, so let's not single out just one kid like they're the only one who does it.

 

If I remember correctly Trimpe, Giwa, Egan, and Eastin did their fair share of talking last night as well. It's a two way street buddy. Isler of CCH is the only kid I've seen not say anything when Pittman was "talking" to him during a game...he just laughed it off.

The Pittman issue is being discussed because of Pittman. He is perhaps the top D1 Junior in KY and he doesn't start in the first game in the tournament? Any player that started all year and sits that game becomes a discussion point. When it is a player like Pittman, it is magnified even more. But Pittman controls all this by his actions. If he handles himself the right way, no one is talking about this. If he wants this talk to go away, follow Spike Lee's words and "Do the Right Thing".

 

Let's all hope the young man uses this to learn and listens to his coach and team mates.

Friday Holmes plays Beechwood @ Holy Cross at 6:00PM

 

As far as the region, the exact schedule/match-ups wont be set until all district games are final. However the Region will be at NKU first round games will be at 6:00 and 8:00 PM on March 4th and 5th, Semi's are at 2:00 and 4:00PM on March 8th, and the finals are at 8:30PM on the March 10th. I believe the 10th region final will be played right before the 9th region final.

Not supplying "cover" for anyone. There's just no need to continually bash a 16 yr old kid and call them classless, while questioning their character, and accusing them of "trash talking" after EVERY game Holmes wins. It gets real old.
