Pittman could have been starting late in the season though. Henley chose not to start him because his defense needed work. It's no coincidence that Holmes starts pressing again and since then Pittman hasn't started in 2 of their 5 games.

 

One of those games was senior night, the other was toinght... I don't think either had to do with defensive capability from what I have seen and heard...

ONly if Henley continues to let it happen without shelving him. I know they are in the running for a state championship this season but Arnold is developing a bad reputation.

 

A very reliable source told me he made gestures toward the Highlands coach after dropping 7 straight on them near halftime of that game. Just ridiculous and they don't need the bad rap.

 

I thought this group was supposed to be different than past Holmes teams. I just hate to see negative stuff like this take away from the outstanding year they are having. We all want a 9th Region team to take state and if its Holmes so be it but I can tell you I really hate to see that kind of immature behavior out of kids. It makes my stomach turn.

As far as the Highlands incident goes I was told that the Highlands Coach may have said something reflecting negatively on his shooting ability during the game. I think the young man just reacted. Though he probably shouldn't have said anything, I'll have to give him that one.

I am curious as to what some of the HC faithful/alum think of the style of play that HC has now. It is so different than what I remember from HC teams in the past.

I think Holy Cross has a lot better team than was out there tonite. I like the talent, just wasn't able to use it.

Trimpe was open 4 or 5 times and the guards couldn't get him the ball or even for some reason didn't see him open. That young man is lights out!!!

The highlands incident from what I know of the situation talking to people close to Arnold goes like this, He spotted up, heard Coach yell he can't shoot, he knock down the triple and looked over at the coach and smiled... He never even said a word, this is coming from him and another player that was near by.

Already developed, he looked at Henley when the T was called tonight with a look of confusion and frustration and you could hear him from where I was sitting say "Why me, it happens everytime I play aggressive, you say play hard and when I do this happens" He was obviously frustrated and upset with himself and he definately knows that he has a rep.

R. Johnson is a great kid and very polite. As for Pittman and Arnold, well I don't think the same for several reasons.

Ok I worded it wrong b/c that is very true they have to much talent. What I am trying to get acrossed is that Hc can still play good Defense but needed to take at least 15 ,ore shots a game how ever they come. They tried to play stall ball and just didn't have the shooting ability to knock down shots consistently.

Holmes "stalled it" more than HC tonight, but I agree it only works against few teams. For instance, I think at the St. Henry game in the All "A" HC should have pushed a little more as they did against the Cru later on in the season. The slow play works against some, but not all. Tonight, HC just missed way too many open shots and ft's.
