Well, you figure head-to-head on the court counts. How about the KY Allstars when they played on the same team. Elite Camp maybe. Derek Smith Shootout. Sanford does have one thing over Jenkins, he's healthy.

Hood is clearly the best player in western Kentucky ... other than that, I don't know that there is a legitimate all-stater in the bunch. There are some good honorable mention types.

 

In a lot of cases, the west's top players are non-seniors.

And those aren't the five best players in the state either. Amazing.

Phares is the best center in the state.

Hood is the best overall player in the state.

Pittman is the best power forward in the state.

Sanford is the best point guard in the state.

Rico/Guyn/Jenkins for best guard in the state is a toss up, but I chose Rico since Jenkins hasn't really been healthy this year and Rico's size makes him much tougher to match up with than Guyn.

I believe you would have to add Mr. Robbie Stenzel to the all-state team consideration.

How would Walker and McKenty stack up, across the State?

How would Walker and McKenty stack up, across the State?

Walker is a decent player, but much more of an honorable mention type. He benefits from a soft schedule.

 

McKenty has been very good, as a scorer and a creator, but he has struggled lately with an ankle injury. For my money, he's been the best player in the 1st Region this year ... he was especially good in December and early January.

Who would he replace on first team? IMO he isn't a better guard than Sanford or Jenkins and can't start at the forward position because of bigger players like Penny, Hood, and Ballou.

I'd put Guyn on the list before Jackson or Euton...

At Marshall County, Guyn had the edge ... Phares was in constant foul trouble and Jackson had turnover problems.

Its a darn good thing there's a lot of good games to be played including the tournaments. Maybe that will help Kentucky get the legit talent in proper order. It sure would be nice to get it right for once.

That was their second game. Guyn is a streaky scorer Going for 23 one game and 6 the next. That is his major thing considering he does not avg very many reb or assists per game. Euton has he same problem, but rebounds well every game. Phares is a bear on the boards to compliment his ever so consistent scoring effort. And same applies for Jackson. He avg about 10 rebounds a game while averaging about 15 points and 5 assists from the point guard spot. I love Guyns game and what he brings to the floor for my Cards, but to say he is better than Jackson IMO is just silly! :thumb:

Personally, I would probably side with Jackson ... I've loved his game since the Rose Hill days.

Ferguson isn't better R. Johnson....period. There's a reason he's a high major recruit.

 

Ferguson on the first team, as westsider said, depends on how many they select. If they select 10, I can see him on the first team.
