Jon Hood's team got beat in the district, but made the region. If they have an early exit in the region and someone like Phares, Sanford, Middleton, or Penny lead their teams to a state championship or a deep Sweet 16 run do you think they could pass Hood up?

Better than Darius has so far? The kid is a freshman playing major D1 competition. Also, look at his recent games. There isn't marked improvement? Just because someone is Mr. Basketball at the high school level doesn't automatically equate to a great college career. Darius is just what, 25 games into his career? Let's give him time.

I believe you would have to add Mr. Robbie Stenzel to the all-state team consideration.

 

I think I'd take Vinny Zollo over him. Even though Stenzel is a very talented player.

Wow, those are harsh words against Darius, I personally like the kid and think he will turn out to be a pretty good college player. Hopefully Hood will turn out to be a good one too.

Darius was a good selection for Mr. Basketball. UK is lacking pure guard play and Miller is forced to play out of position. In the 2nd half of the LSU game, it was Miller bringing the ball up the court and starting the offense.

 

In high school, Miller could post up or simply go dunk over smaller players. At UK, he doesn't post up and when you saw him go for a dunk in the LSU game, there's a 6-9 athletic player waiting to block it.

 

He's coming along at UK and the Cats need him to. He hit a pair of big 3's against LSU and could have hit a few more if the ball rotated out of a certain players hands to his.

 

All and all, Miller is doing fine. And I'm proud he was a Mr. Basketball since this selection was the right one.

Seriously, I have absolutely no connection to Darius Miller aside from watching him play one game his senior year. So I'm totally unbiased when I say, people who are hard on Miller really need to step back. There are far worse issues with the UK basketball team..

 

In the games that Miller has played that Ive watched, while he has made some mistakes, he's also had some great moments. He is progressing and shows a lot of promise. He's only a freshman. Give it time...and don't eat your words if Hood ends up doing the same thing his freshman year.

F Troop from Elliott are all 3 All-State Caliber players. But, don't think there is room for all three of them?? Just like all 3 could make the KY All-Star team in April tryouts. Again, don't know if there is room for all three or if three players from one team has ever made the All-Star team??

If all three make the All State team, I'd guess it'd look something like this:

 

Ferg- 1st team

Et. Faulkner- 2nd team

Ev. Faulkner- 3rd team

 

 

As far as the All Star team having all 3, that's probably doubtful. I know Holmes had 2 make the KY All Star team in 07 with Greg Rice and Austin Hill, but I can't remember more than 2 making it any time recently.

I think the the preformance in the state tournament will determine placement on the 1st, 2nd and third all state teams. About one-half of the all state players will never make it to the state tournament and probably have already been selected. They have already been some all state teams announced by various publications and sportwriters in the state. Others aren't made until after the state tournament. (All star and all state teams are just opinions and something for us to argue about) :ylsuper: By the way ,as I stated before , Jon Hood will be Mr Basketball in Ky this year. I promise you that.

Why does it really matter whether I list that or not? Who cares? If it doesn't matter to you or a few others, why feel the need to question someone else about it?

 

IMO him having that many dunks against a good team shows he had a good game against them and was getting high percentage shots.

 

Wow. So Timmy Knipp has had some good dunks so I guess he should be first team to.
