Who will be the all state players and who will be Mr. Basketball?

You also could hurt your hand here in the month of Febraury & not be available to your team when needed most - Tournament time! They should be thinking about the team & not showing they can play D1 just because they can dunk.

I don't know about you, but I would want my players dunking as much as possible. And in the history of basketball and the slam dunk, I would say if you saw every dunk ever, then less than 0.5% of the players were injured in the action.

:ohbrother: You could fall down the steps and break an ankle too. Should players stay away from steps until after March?

Doesn't a dunk help fire up your team and the crowd? I doubt very seriously a kid is thinking "I'm going to show everyone I can play D1" before a dunk.

Pittman's stats v top 25 teams:

v Bryan Station: 18 pts, 9 rbs, 5 blks

v Scott County: 15 pts, 12 rbs, 4 blks

v Ballard: 15 pts, 7 rbs (I believe 4 dunks)

v Tates Creek: 25 pts, 2 rbs, 2 stls, 2 blks (6 dunks)

v Bryan Station: 25 pts, 12 rbs, 2 stls, 3 blks (3 dunks)

v Seneca: 27 pts, 10 rbs (3 dunks)

v Franklin County: 20 pts, 3 ast, 2 stls, 4 blks

v Scott: 10 pts, 6 rbs (only played 15 mins)

v Highlands: 22 pts, 6 rbs (3 dunks)

v Boone County: 14 points, 5 rbs (sat our majority of game with wrist injury)

I'd say it's tough to argue him not being all state considering how he's fared against top teams...if you need more convincing though, here's just a preview of what he's done all year to teams:

Pittman should for sure be first team all state just because of the amount of dunks he has vs top 25 teams. Why did you feel the need to include dunks in a stat line?

Tell Michael Jordan that. You play the game with heart and passion. If you play with any passion or heart and your a warrior, I'm walking out there thinking I'm defending, rebounding, and ripping the rim off. You don't live for the next game, you play in the moment.

Why does it really matter whether I list that or not? Who cares? If it doesn't matter to you or a few others, why feel the need to question someone else about it?

IMO him having that many dunks against a good team shows he had a good game against them and was getting high percentage shots.

That's the corniest thing I've ever heard. No disrespect intended.

To me its a bit selfish if you come back the next game & dunk again with a bad hand but I suppose I am a little old fashion.

Jon Hood will take Mr. Basketball, hopefully he pans out for UK better than Darius has so far.

I didn't say they were! I got that from passtheball comments in post 166

Wow! that will fire up the BGP crowd from Maysville a little bit.

Times have changed my friend.....

How is it being selfish by dunking to help out your team? I much rather a kid dunk, since it's the most high percentage shot on the floor, than try to shoot jumpers.

Depends on whose taking that jumper. I agree with Eta. The dunk is the highest percentage shot on the court and there's nothing wrong with flushing it when there's an opportunity.

Jon Hood's team got beat in the district, but made the region. If they have an early exit in the region and someone like Phares, Sanford, Middleton, or Penny lead their teams to a state championship or a deep Sweet 16 run do you think they could pass Hood up?
