4. J'town

5. Elliott County

Didn't they just lose to Shelby Valley? Not sure how you can have them ahead of Ballard, Bryan Station, or Shelby Valley given those teams wins against top competition.

Please tell me you meant 2 as Scott County not Scott.

Haha. Yea of course. I should have specified. Scott County #2. Sorry about that.

Eta you just read my mind and hit the nail on the head. I couldn't agree more with this 5.

That is probably how I would have ranked them as well.

1. Holmes

2. Scott County

3. @%#$$^

4. %$^&

5.&%^$%$

Holmes or Scott County forget the rest. But I think you still must play the games.

Holmes

Scott County

Jeffersontown

Eastern

Ballard

Anybody that thinks Eastern and Jtown can't play with Scott County and Holmes don't leave their comfort zone very often. These 2 are as good as anybody but I do agree with the top 2, just not that everyone elses.

It's so hard to tell who is the best team in the state.

Holmes knocked off Scott High by just 1. Mason Co beat Scott High by 15+. Mason Co played Scott Co very close and almost pulled that game off. Elliott Co blows teams out and then has close games.

I'm not saying that Mason Co is the best in the state but it's crazy how teams play each other so close one time and then have a big blowout win the next game. Just shows you have to come out ready to play everygame.

At this point in the season I can't say one team is heads above the rest.

The real question is, who are the 3-10 teams

I don't recall anyone saying one Team is heads above the rest. As for the question, I believe Scott Co. is currently playing the best. As far as the, this Team beat that Team by this much and that Team lost to that Team theory, I don't buy it and never will, not in any sport. Kind of like saying Arizona loss to the Patriots by 40, but Pittsburgh beat the Pats by 23 at their place. :idunno:

I agree. It's foolish to compare scores to say one team is on the same level or better/worse than another.

Example:

Holmes beat Franklin Co by 22.

Scott Co beat Franklin Co by 8.

Holmes beat Tates Creek by 29.

Scott Co beat Tates Creek by 5 and 14.

Holmes beat Bryan Station by 18 and lost by 14.

Scott Co beat Bryan Station by 27 but lost to Holmes by 5.

It's more about how teams match up. Some match up better with one another than another team does and I'd say at this point, Scott Co and Holmes are the two toughest teams in the state to match up with.

Before I get criticized for putting these teams down, let me specify that these may not be the "best" 5 in the state but the teams playing the hottest and most proficient ball.

1. Scott County- Hasn't lost since Dec 22. Would like to see another Holmes matchup.

2. Holmes- had a few close games recently, but still playing with a lot of passion and pride.

3. Eastern- They have proven they are the front-runner in the 7th region.

4. Mason County- Have been on a tear lately, nearly beating Scott County at SC's place. Friday will show a peak into how the 10th will play out.

5. Shelby Valley- Beat a very good Elliott County and won a very strong All "A" state tournament.

I think on any given night if either one of those teams played each other right now, it'd be 50/50 as to who won.

Holmes is the best team in the State. They beat Scott County head to head. Wait until the State Tournament to make your case. Right now it is a moot point.

Holmes

Scott

Eastern

J'Town

Shelby Valley

And on another note. I don't think Elliott belongs among the top ten teams of the state. They have not played any of the tough competition in the state, aside from Shelby Valley, you play in a weak region and have for the past 3 years. I know that scoring 120 a night looks good, but it is against some bad teams. Take a look at some of the top teams in the state and the way they schedule. There is a reason the same handful of teams are always given a legit shot to win, they schedule.

Hey it looks like based on this Holmes Scott Co. and Bryan Station should be 1,2&3. Hey how did Elliott Fair against these teams you have mentioned.

I saw on another thread Elliott was trying to get a game at Home on Feb. 14 with Ballard that would be fun to watch and take you sweetheart to for Valentine's Day.

I'd say that would end alot of the dispute as to if Elliott was a championship contender or not. I would love to watch that one, it would show alot about whats going on in the state.
