You're talking to an alien and it says "play me a song that most exemplies 70s rock and roll." Of course, you're stunned that the alien knows anything about music but then you realize you must come up with an answer.

What is that answer?

Note: I'm not asking what the "best" 70s rock song is. I'm asking what song really defines 70s rock.

Other worthy contenders:

Born to Run, The Boss

Stairway to Heaven, Zepp

Smoke on the Water, Deep Purple

Won't Get Fooled Again, The Who

All Right Now, Free

While not technically "the best", these are the songs of the era that I think of as "rock anthems". I'm sure there are several more.

I believe I'd stick a Lynyrd Skynyrd 8-track in and say sit and listen awhile boys. Then let them pick. The Breeze would be my choice.

What got me to thinking about this is when I heard Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love."

Bad Company with Paul Rogers may be the best concert I've ever saw! :ylsuper:

Great rock and roll song, but it came out in the mid 60's.

That's right but that is a song for all the ages. Remember Michael Keeton & Henry Winkler in the movie night shift. Keeton has the windows tinted in his car pulls up next to cops flipping them off and sorts while that song was playing. Funny stuff. A true classic !!
