Good win for the Cov. Cath. But can they keep making progress and build off this win?

 

That, sir, is the million dollar question. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can answer it. CovCath has been beaten up pretty badly this year both physically and mentally. I believe they are good kids who have it in them to step up and finish the season strong. They need some kids to get & stay healthy AND they needs some leaders on the team to step up and pull challenge them to finish stong.

Leading scorer/player injured and 3rd game in 4 days not a good formula.

Just my opinion, but it looks to me like Mont. Co. players are now looking ahead to when the season is over, i.e. other Spring sports, Spring Break, etc. I know that Rash was missed, but come on, losing by 37 points to a 4-13 team going in! No excuse! There is enough talent there to at least put out a better effort then they did. Example, Clark Co played against a decent Campbell Co team yesterday without Rogers, Stenzel, and a still hurting Hatton, and still sucked it up and won by 4 points. Mont. Co. needs to look at their self in the mirror and decide whether to play hard or just look ahead to next year. With that being said, I wish Rash a speedy recovery, as he is a great kid!!

 

1. Rash is the leader of this team. Robinson and others have had moments, but Rash is the leader.

2. Montgomery County was down and Covington Catholic picked this game to shoot 50% (11/22) from the 3.

3. Clark County game in bold is no comparison. GRC still had Hatton (though not at 100%), Zollo, Bailey, Williams, Daniels, Brewer, etc. They have 10 players that could start anywhere and they will be a force in coming years because of this depth.

4. I agree that the team needs to look into the mirror. Losing by 37 is totally unacceptable. Other players are going to have to step up.

Isler and Wellbrock played great. It seems that Maile and Ives are going to play well every night from this point on- maybe it is the two big men who will be the X-factor. Isler showed a smooth left hand and he took it strong to the basket. Wellbrock was a man on the boards and would have had a double-double if not for some missed bunnies and questionable no-calls. Maschinot played a fine game as well, limiting turnovers and hitting his open shots.

 

On the bad side, Sorrell's 9 points were all in garbage time. The kid can flat out shoot- made 3 of his 5 three-pointers. This team needs someone to be a consistent third or fourth option- I think it should be him.

 

Don't write the Colonels off yet!

Did Cov Cath play well defensively or did Montgomery just shoot bad? 27% from the floor is pretty bad. Saw where Shover didn't score. How has his health been lately??

Shover hasn't played since probably mid December.....

A little shocked by the margin of victory. This must make Cov Cath feel good.

So tell us, who is going to score with Rash on the bench? He's the only player on MC that can create his own shot. I think it's pretty obvious that he is "the man" on MC and without him, they are going to struggle. Hopefully someone like Hendrix can step up and be a leader.

Isn't this back to back 40 point losses for the Indians? and people say the 10th region is competitive this year. Clark and Mason once again.

 

I never really counted Montgomery as one of the "competitive" teams this year. Lower 2nd tier team IMO.
