I've heard that this guy has coached with Chuke Williams, Garry McPeek, TJ Maynard, and Dudley Hylton........ not a bad bunch of guys to learn from...... combine this with what I've heard is an unbelievable work ethic and this guy might just be able to turn that program around....... I think Chuke is the only one out of those coaches that he has coached with.

It is official fella's, Copley is the new coach.

This is a great coach! I have seen him coaching his kids at a few camps, the JC scrimmage, and the Pikeville scrimmage in 2007. He seems like he knows what is going on with the team and seems do demand the most out of his team. Good luck Greenup!

Matt and Chris will formally announce Coach Copley sometime next week and we are going to try and get him down here ASAP.

 

This is some information I got from a very solid anonymous source,

"Some assistant coaches will be hired a little later due to timelines dealing with budget cuts, etc..... but there will be teaching positions open for assistant coaches.... Essentially, Younce wouldn't pink-slip all non-tenured teachers, so Baker had trouble hiring assistants for Sammons, but Hughes is going to pink-slip all non-tenured teachers... so this means that even though budget cuts are coming down that there will be teaching positions open for assistant coaches...

 

Also, the new weight equipment and weight room may be in place much sooner than initially thought.... Copley is a weight room fanatic..... those kids better be ready to bust their butts.... things are looking up for GC football a lot will be happening in the next 2-3 months"

As others have said, it is the triple option attack. I love the offense, it is old school football. I describe it best Line up, here it comes and you stop it .......Establish the fullback, sweep/option it off the end to get on the corners then trap it back across. Throw in the play acton pass, throwing it downfield.

The "Remember the Titans" movie had a line in it that kind of describes it...when the coaching staff was questioning the new coach coming in about his playbook being so small, he replied....."Six plays gentlemen. It's kinda like novacaine in that it takes a while but it is very effective".

 

There are different versions and I hope that I described it correctly.
