Greenup County names Mike Copley the new Football Coach

Featured Replies

We have alot of talented athletes at Greenup. I am looking forward to seeing how Coach Copley utilizes all of them as a team. Anyone have any idea when the school is scheduling the meet and greet?

Does anyone have the schedule for Greenup this year/ or are they waiting on the new coach to make it?

We have 6 seniors coming back next fall. Blaylock, Crum, Waugh, Farr, Glynn, and Virgin. Now that Rister went to Raceland will Crum tryout for the QB place?:idunno:

I have also heard that Spencer Means is going to play again this year now that Sammons is gone he has played some varsity time. Another name that has been mentioned is Marcus Worthington he will be another senior.

Depending on what Matt and Chris want to do, we may have a meet and greet at Greenbo in the conference facilities with appetizers and drinks. We will invite the team, parents, boosters, media and all the supporters of the program. Danny Wright is working on this for us and we will let you know when that date is set. This is all according to what Matt and Chris want to do of course.

We need to get Jett Troxler back in Green/Gold and Black...

IMO that would be a great place to welcome Greenups new coach. Would show great hospitality from all boosters and supporters.

I don't think we need anyone coming back to Greenup that has transfered out and turned their back on Greenup . You have to have a level of trust and respect with your teammates and I think it would be to hard to gain that back.:idunno:

When will the new coach get to start? Some things need to start right away ,we are falling behind every day he is not here.

Nice post, All Heart, I kinda feel the same way. They decided to leave and gave up on the guys they had worked and sweated with since 2nd grade and went to a rival. Im not sure I could let that slide if I was on the team.

Not all transfers are traitors. My guess is not all kids and their parents want to put up with the politics and whatever else. My opinion is that as people grow up they have different needs and wants. If they can go where they can better themselves, why not? I know this opinion will be met with sour response and sarcasm, but most kids don't want to be in a negative enviroment and to date, that is exactly what Greenup football has been. If Coach Copley can unify things, there will be less transfers.

IMO there must be a loyalty to your school, I guess I'm "old school", where a transfer wasn't allowed under any circumstances. Both of my sons had the opportunity to transfer but both wanted to be Musketeers and felt a loyalty toward their friends and their school. Seems to me that usually it's the parents removal of a child from school not the child removing hisself. I agree about kids being in a negative environment but not all of Greenup Football has been negative, there has been some outstanding players play this past year at GCHS.

Not all transfers are traitors. . . . . but most kids don't want to be in a negative enviroment and to date, that is exactly what Greenup football has been.

Then how do you justify the transfer the QB heir apparent. The negativity is gone and the transfer still occurred before the new coach was hired. This was in fact a traitorous act.

Does anyone know who might be the kicker for this season?I believe this is a important poistion that Sammons seemed to overlook.Sometimes this can win or lose a game. Something for the new coach to think about.
