Greenup County names Mike Copley the new Football Coach

Featured Replies

Hope the best for GCHS. Now the question is will he be bringing his own staff or keeping the ones from last year.

I believe a lot of that may depend on the schools (GC) needs and teaching/employment positions open. I don't know the situation but they would have to have a position open within the school system to hire one or more of Copleys assistants that he may want. JMO

Yes, and I was talking to some teachers there, they are laying off 2-5 teachers this coming year because of budget cuts. This may be a problem.:idunno:

What kind of offense does Copley run?

Belly option.

How's that work?

Belly option.

How's that work?:idunno:

Was Pikeville Copley's first head coaching job?

I describe it as a triple option. Ride the fullback and read the defensive tackle. If he comes down, he rides him and pulls and goes down the line and can pitch or keep it. If I have described it wrongly or worded it too "weird", then someone can correct me.

I'm glad they found them a Head Coach! What's next in line for GC? (Where did he go to high school at?)

Played at Lawerence County I believe.

Yes, he was given the job last year after Coach Jackson left Pikeville. Before that he was an assistant for Pikeville, (Defensive Coach).

He appears from his picture I seen of him to be 30 years old. Looks like a good hire. Played at Marshall for a 1.5 years.

Can we have the link to see his picture? Or were you privy to application pictures?

And he was Chuke Williams Assistant at Lawrence County.

He is bringing two coaches with him and he also expects his coaches to work at least 15 hours on the weekends and that is at the minimum.

Exactly what he runs and how it works, tough to stop.
