  1. I just heard that Zack Reed has committed to playing football. I remember Zach played in middle school, but I don't think he has played in high school. Still this is a nice addition, he's a very smart kid and very athletic.... maybe our next QB????:dancingpa
  2. I've heard that this guy has coached with Chuke Williams, Garry McPeek, TJ Maynard, and Dudley Hylton........ not a bad bunch of guys to learn from...... combine this with what I've heard is an unbelievable work ethic and this guy might just be able to turn that program around....... I wish him the best.
  3. If you are talking about Hampton, he went to Wurtland MS in 8th grade, I'm not sure about his freshmen year, but he's been in the GC system for a while... if this is the only transfer on Greenup's team, then that is certainly less than some teams in the immediate area...
  4. I did not intend my post as a "shot" at a sophomore... from what I've seen, he's a great kid.... and I'm not referring to his athletic ability... he seems to conduct himself extremely well on and off the field.... and I wish him the best... I was just making a statement that IF that's true, I would hope that someone close to him would give him some advice.... even if a move is being considered, it's not a good idea to go around talking about it.....
  5. I don't care if the kid is 6'5" and weighs 230lbs, runs a 4.4, and throws the ball 60 yards on a frozen rope..... if he's telling guys who even might be his team mates next year, he's leaving unless a certain coach is hired then the kid has big problems.... I hope this is not the case..... the most important quality a quarterback HAS to have is leadership......
  6. Something very similar is being discussed as a part of having the "new" middle school team practice on the GCHS campus..... they may try and run buses to each middls school following practice for all kids participating in extracurriculular activities.... and maybe another one going to some drop off point out in the county..... most of the time districts pay for this with ESS money, which comes from the federal government...... and we all know the feds have cut support for public schools the past few years......
  7. Don't worry, the "Ice Man" won't be giving any imput into this one.... not that anyone with half a brain would listen to him anyway.....
  8. Finally.... someone who knows what they are talking about..... Thanks Ram... Rister had varsity playing time this year, that means he has to move into the Raceland District in order to have a chance of being eligible....
  9. I think combining the two teams could be a good thing, primarily by healing some old wounds as recpark keeps mentioning... however, what is the "plan" for doing this??? It's not as simple as just combining the two teams and running a few buses. What about hiring the coaches?? Normally, the principal hires the coaches, but with two principals involved, who makes the hire??? If the coach is from one end, and more kids start from that end, then the "finger pointing" will start.....again, I think that this COULD be a good thing, but if it's not thought through first, then it could backfire..... I'm hoping that Mr. Hughes will share this "plan" at the BOE meeting....
  10. I agree with your comments about the BOE building, tennis courts and soccer field... but what "furniture" are you talking about??? I'm a little lost on this one with your comment that the system has never spent its money wisely... I think that the new coach should be given what the need to succeed... but remember that schools HAVE to be smart about how they do things.... there is still something out there called Title IX... I don't agree with it, but that's just how things are...
  11. How can you say that they see no problem with a small school beating up on them... Sammons resigned didn't he....you think he did this on his own, with at least some sort of pressure for the admin???
  12. I'm glad he's in Bath County too..... :dancingpa
  13. The major question is: "Are they coachable"..... last year in basketball Baker and Adkins took more bad shots than I've ever seen 2 kids take..... they need to be reigned in and taught that they have a role to play.... especially Adkins, if he's still on point, needs to understand that his job is to get assists and not points......I think Fraley will do a good job at doing this, he's been around a while and it looks like he's got things going in the right direction....both Adkins and Baker are good athletes and should be major contributors as long as they remember there are other kids on the floor that can shoot too.....
  14. I agree completely... the Wheelersburg game was terrible, we had at least 10 kids coming out with cramps, etc... and the 'Burg didn't have one come out... but that could also be due to the fact that we haven't had 2 a day practices in the summer or gone away to a camp in four years......
