I would like to see Coach Ray have some heavy input into who the next coach is. Rumor, and I stress rumor, he did not like the last two choices. Lets face it, he took Cov Cath from the basesment to the penthouse. I just think his opinion should be valued.

I agree. And punttheball who said Brossart was taking over a CCH program that had a lot of success? Aside from the blip on the radar in the 2006 state champs, the overall record for the 2000's is right around .500. Add into that a murder's row of a schedule and you see the result.......

 

I can only imagine what the records would look like for the early 2000's if they had played this years schedule. While I'm sure W's and L's weren't the sole reason for his dismissal, I think it is a reflection of our society today versus where we were 30 years ago. Just win baby.

So once they do decide on a new coach, what is the prognosis for next year. I believe Connaughten (sp?) was the only CovCath underclassman listed in the Enquirer all NKY. (He is a talented lineman) Anyone care to speculate what the new guy will do with what he finds in the cupboard?

The 2005 team lost to eventual champ LexCath 42 - 39 in a game that very easily could have gone the Colonels way. The 2001 team lost a state semifinal in the mud 17 - 14 to Rockcastle. CovCath has been more than a blip on the radar in the 2000's. The .500 record goes hand in hand with the murderer's row schedule.

 

I don't understand why so many on the outside think it was simply the W/L record that ousted Brossart when so many faithful CovCath supporters all but scream otherwise. It was the lack of competiveness in big games and the off the field issues that cost him the head role at CovCath.

Also there wasn't much talent left in the skilled positions. They will have a tested receiver in Robinson, but not much else at this point. However looking at the current frosh, I think some of those guys will get help out, as they seem to be pretty talented. I know the jv team did well this year, as did the jv team the years before, but that does not always translate to success at the varsity level.

Loads of talent in sophomore and freshman classes. Definitely will be a program competing for a state title in 2 years.

I think the point was that they had some patience with Ray and allowed him some time to get the program on its feet. These days if the fix isn't there overnight, people call for the head of the coach and generally seem to get it.
