Beechwood 55 Covington Catholic 50

I wouldn't rule out Mitch playing in college if he wants to. I know of at least one school that is interested and his lack of PT won't hurt his cause.

Same here. Mitch, if he wants to, will be able to play on the collegiate level. And he'll get a pretty good, private college education too. :D

I haven't seen him play inside yet this year. Always on the wing.

2 plays come to mind. End of the 2nd quarter. Colonels down by 5 or 6. Thelen misses a jump shot. 2 Beechwood kids in position for the rebound. Counts storms in, bodies fly. Counts muscles it away, snarls and puts it back in... 3rd quarter. Cov Cath down by 6. Cov Cath on a fast break to bring it back to 4. Pauley turns it over resulting in a breakaway the other way. Counts was the only Colonel to bother sprinting back on defense. Romes locks and loads for a slam dunk directly in front of the Beechwood student section that would have brought the house down. Counts hard to the rim. Hands up, hard foul but not flagrent. No way Romes gets the jam with Counts storming back. I like that in him. As previously mentioned, Counts is not going to light up the scoreboard but I like the swagger he brings.

Romes's dunk would have completely given Beechwood the momentum. The crowd would have erupted. Kind of a good story of Romes dropping 20 on his former team.

Does anybody remember what Michael "Dirty" Romes did against his former school?

Beuttel had a good game for being hurt.

The answer is NOT getting Maile more touches. That is just laughable. The kid has the ball the entire game, and half the time he sees a man on his team open and either completely disregards it and takes a shot, or drives right into his own man. He is lucky his shots fall,

.

I wish the rest of the players would start "getting lucky" then.

Maschinot will be fine. He just needs to stop with the one handed push pass. That is where his turnovers come from, and one was from just a bad decision to pass it inside on good coverage.

He is lucky his shots fall, cause if not everyone would be singing a totally different tune about the way he has issues with passing. It would benefit him, and probably cause him to get more points [and it has in the past] if he would pass it off more. I've heard many times people yelling for him to just give the ball up. He IS our scoring threat, but it doesnt help anyone else be a scoring threat when one player has the ball the entire game.

Listerman isn't trying to find his top 5 still. He knows who they are. He just doesn't make smart substitutions. Sometimes he misses mismatches on the court completely. Everytime he goes deep into his bench, they struggle. Playing his top 7 or 8 is his answer.

And Beechwood is good, don't get me wrong, but ETA you're acting like they are the hot mama jama..lol. Holy Cross has a shot and CovCath has a shot at beating them if they meet again. They only beat CovCath by 5, and admittedly CovCath isn't even in the top 10 AND had a bad night.

Interesting. One CCH fan in an earlier post wants to know why Maile didn't get the ball more in the 3rd quarter and OYYT says Maile has the ball the entire game. In the Beechwood game, Maile definitely played within team offense and did not have the ball the entire game. Beechwood had Romes play Maile straight up all night and Romes was in front of Maile all night. No help needed - no double teams - so there weren't many opportunities for him to pass the ball in that game. Without Maile, Beechwood wins every time these two teams face each other and I don't think CCH without Maile gets within double digits of Beechwood. So I wouldn't knock the kid if I were a CCH fan. Like him or not, CCH needs 20+ from Maile every night from what I saw.

Point two, any fan who questions Listerman after what he has done at CCH is kind of amazing. He is the one watching practice every day and has the track record that tells you he knows what he is doing.

I am pretty amazing, I gotta tell ya. I've never actually agreed with Listerman's coaching style, but he is a great man, and I have no problem with him being the coach and making the decisions. That doesn't stop me or others from wondering what his thought process is with some of his subbing and lineups. I'm sure it is just that he is having difficulty coping with not having as much talent as usual.

And I don't believe I said at any point we don't need Maile to score, lol..quite the opposite obviously. We just need other kids to become a scoring threat and that isn't going to happen with ONE person trying to be IT on the court. This team has struggled with playing as a team all year, and that doesn't improve the situation. Like it or not, this team NEEDS Maile to score those points to win a game, but regardless, we still ARENT so obviously something needs to be done differently.

I wish the rest of the players would start "getting lucky" then.

Yeah, it would be nice.

Didn't appear hurt, and no one seems to know about that. Sounds like an excuse.

Very nice reply. I agree with all...except I will let those who know you to agree or disagree with how amazing you are.;)

So are you going to start a poll? Ha!!

The kid was born with a condition that gives him a slightly misplaced vertebrae and he got hit hard over the weekend which resulted in him having bad back spasms all week, he sat out the villa game and had been doing intense physical therapy all week just to get him ready for this game. Doesn't sound like an excuse to me, cut him some slack.

How long do we wait?

I was at the Villa game and Beuttel was dressed and I thought he played, but if that is true I take back my statement. :thumb:

Who started this game for Covcath? Ives, Maile, Wellbrock, Isler, and who else??
