There is nothing concrete just yet on the 2009 Kirk Herbstreit football event, other than organizers still planning to play the games on Labor Day weekend.

 

A glance at the '09 event, gleaned via telephone conversation today with event matchmaker Jim Herbstreit (Kirk's father):

 

--Elder, Colerain and Highlands are probable, with opponents TBA. St. Xavier and Moeller are probably out, with other scheduling commitments. St. Xavier is to play at Indianapolis Cathedral that weekend. Moeller that weekend begins a two-year, home and home deal with Hamilton.

I thought Highlands schedule was set.

Would this replace one of the Ryle games if it does happen?

I would love to see Highlands matched up with a school their own size.

I love Ohiofootball but at times I think some of our great fans need an education on certain things. How Highlands would stack up against schhols its own size in Ohio would be a great lesson.

Could they possibly switch dates with 1 of the 2 Ryle games or HHS' open date?

 

Maybe Dale will follow the lead of another NKY team (can't remember who it was in 2008 -- maybe Conner?) and play on FRI and SAT night in the same weekend!!

People in the know are too busy still working on the qb coaching situation to share what they know on this issue. You'll just have to wait.

I hope they get into this event and work out something with Beechwood to replace one of the 2 Ryle games. This would be an ideal situation. There is no doubt with back to back State Championships under their belts, a loaded group coming back and marquee player Austin Collinsworth, they deserve to be in this big event.

I am glad Highlands is being considered for the Herby event.They bring a lot of fans,have a great team,and usually are compettive with anyone they play against.I would like to see them play an Ohio 5A team and not a 3A. As we all know,Highlands is a 3A,playing in a 5A division in K.Y. I.M.O. this is the year that we could beat one of the POWERS in OHIO.:flame:
