January 5, 200917 yr  Don't laugh it really was. Seriously, how can you just sit back and watch all those people go through what they did? Kinda makes you feel all fuzzy inside when you see your president and the government has your back during a time of disaster. Thank goodness we dont have to worry about much here in the Midwest.

I guess you'd blame the governor when police don't respond quickly enough too. Seriously dude that's not how the government works.
January 5, 200917 yr I hope Obama succeeds, I really do. but Bush did not destroy the economy. The other 535 'leaders' on the 'hill' had a HUGE hand in this as well. Let's give credit where credit is due and they all played a part in it. In fact, Barney Franks had more to do with the banking collapse than Bush did. But unlike some of my republican counterparts, I really hope Obama succeeds. To wish otherwise is truly unpatriotic. I hope he succeeds also, but I know how the game is played. I do NOT hope he succeeds in the things that will hurt this country and this economy, that's what scares me about him but I do hope he can find a way to turn things around. Trouble is, I know where and what he came from, so I don't expect any representation.
January 5, 200917 yr Yeah I can't lie, I'm not big on people blaming Hurricane Katrine on Bush. As for the stimulus check. I didn't see a lick of it. My parents did not either. They didn't even see any for my 17 year old brother who turned 18 in October. It's crap. I work 25 plus hours a week, go to school with a full course load [usually 15 to 18 hours], and pay a boat load of taxes and I got NOTHIN. And my parents did not either.

Nah, I am not that naive but it seriously cost him the election because he created some major hate with that move. Perception is everything and he was percieved as not giving a rats you know what. Whether he was following the right protocol or not, maybe but it is what it is.

Perception is everything and he was percieved as not giving a rats you know what. Whether he was following the right protocol or not, maybe but it is what it is. Cost him the election, or cost his party? Because his party never had a fighting chance; and he wasn't running. People needed someone to blame; they blamed Bush, and we got Obama. I hope Obama has a successful term, possibly two terms as President; but when something goes wrong this time, who is there to blame now? January 5, 200917 yr :thumb: Yup, that killed me too, I make a good bit, paid ALOT in taxes last year, and got nothing for it. Yet the idea was to "stimulate the economy". Pretty sure college students would definitely stimulate the economy if you gave them "free money". Define a lot. It just sounds like some college students want some easy money. Lowering taxes permanently for individuals and businesses is the answer. News is that he wants to lower taxes for the middle class, but I'll will not hold my breath on how he defines middle class.
January 5, 200917 yr :thumb: College students spend so much time going to school that they don't get to work as much as people not in college. Therefore, they are getting less income but still paying a huge chunk of taxes and get nothing in return. Does not seem fair to me. You should be in a tax bracket were you get all your federal taxes back. What is that old saying about about 'fair'? If you think it is not fair now, wait until your out of school, working full time and maybe you have a family to care for.
January 5, 200917 yr You are right Barack has quite a task rebuilding what your guy destroyed. America spoke boldy on Nov 4, 2008. Enjoy the next 4 years.Obama wants to see a two class system. The ruling or political elite class, which of course includes him, and a "middle" (call it upper if you prefer) class consisting of the poor suckers who will pay all of the expenses for the political elites. As former Soviet citizens how their "classless" society worked.
January 5, 200917 yr No college kid on here paid a boatload of taxes. You may have paid some social security, local and state taxes which are an entirely different subject. You'll get back most, if not all, of your federal income taxes. When you graduate and work your way up to a higher level of income, you'll find out exactly how much a "boatload" is.
January 5, 200917 yr :thumb: I am in the same boat. I work about 25 hours a week and go to school but didn't see a dime, neither did the parentals. Be better off just dropping out of school and working 15 hours a week, I guess. If your parents still claim you as a dependant why would they have not gotten $300 extra for you?
