Does anyone know if whey protein expires or goes bad? Ive got some that Ive had for bout a year now and was wanting to start taking it again if its not bad.
Here's something someone posted on the Internet. Take it for what it's worth...

It depends on you definition of bad. I happen to be a Product Development and Quality Control manger for a cheese company.

Whey powder or whey protien concentrate can not spoil in the technical definition of food spoilage as defined by the wastage of food product due to bacterial contamination. Bacteria can't survive at the low water activity that exists when whey protien is in powder form.

It can however "go bad" as proteins breakdown due to oxidation and other chemical reactions. This chemical breakdown can result in off-flavors and colors, and can reduce the amount of usable soluble protien.

When hydrated however, watch out! Whey protien concentrate hydrated and at room temperature, can support just about every disease causing bacteria known to man. So mix it and drink it, or refrigerate it, but don't let it sit for more than four hours at room temperature.

Im trying to lose fat and gain lean muscle, whats the best protien shake to buy? Someone told me muscle milk, is it the best buy?

If I make it to school losing 4-5 pounds so far, I would consider that quite an accomplishment. And I believe that is what I will have done.

Just weighed in, and am at exactly the same as last week.

Well it's only been like three days lol.

I gave my weight last week. I even just ate earlier too. When I'm not in the gym my weight is pretty steady, but once I start back up next week it'll fluxuate around 10 lbs a week.

Are you guys counting calories or what?

What're calories? How many do you think were in my steak, loaded baked potato, and salad with ranch that I had for dinner tonight?:D

That's healthy?
