When is the last time NCC beat Highlands when it counted? Obviously meaning District/Regional Tourney.

 

NCC beat Highlands 2 years ago in the District. NCC up by 3 with no time left, Highlands goes for the lay up instead of shooting a 3. They lost by 1 instead of 3. :confused:

Sounds like the Breds wanted this one more and I made a comment in the prediction thread that if Pangallo has a good game it could cause trouble for the Birds. He plays very hard and can control a game. If his outside shot is falling he can be even more deadly. I know in last year's game he struggled with turnovers but looks like he has matured in one year. The Geisler boys seem to be for real as well. For Jake to come right out of football and drop 19 on the crosstown rival that is simply unheard of.

 

If the Birds cant get more offense out of Grote and Dill they will struggle because teams are going to focus on Stephen K as well as shutting Watson down on the post. I look for Gordon, who can score, to be possibly another one who helps with some scoring.

 

One question, what happened to Conner? Last year he was lighting it up and he gets 1 pt last night.

 

Congrats to NCC and the Geisler boys. Highlands like LN said is all Jr's and are not going to go Undefeated. They lost to a very good NCC team who will make some noise in the 9th rest assured.

Highlands does hustle, but the problem is that they dont have much strength/size. They need to get some of those boys from the student section tn out on the bball court.

 

Ask the boys in the student section why they aren't playing. Why aren't there any seniors? People involved in sports in the city know why. There are several excellent coaches external and internal that wanted to coach JV, freshman and middle school. Ask them why they aren't involved in the program. It's interesting the talent of the 15 seniors on the football team and how they were coached and the final outcome. There is a lot of talent at HHS! HHS baseball is upcoming and right behind football. NCC coaches coached a great game!

From all I saw last year the kid could not create his own shot at all. Not once did I see it (I did only see 5 or so games though). If he's not wide open off of a screen he has no shot. Maybe its different this year but if teams are taking that away from him, he really doesn't have many other options.

Help me out here. What does this mean exactly? What did they come to do then? They weren't excited about the game? The coaching staff didn't have them prepared? They didn't try?

 

Not trying to be argumentative, but I've always found that remark - "We/They didn't come to play" - as a duplicitous way of not giving the other team credit for playing better than you did.

 

What I meant by this is simple. HHS did not match NCCs effort. NCC out worked HHS on the glass, outhustled HHS for loose balls, and played better defense.

Well since you've thrown out veiled shots at someone in the FT T community you might as well have the guts to go ahead and name names.

Drop the sour grapes my friend. Who are those "EXCELLENT" coaches that you speak of that got passed over. Why don't you tell us why those kids are not playing. What kids in the stands would even help this team? The football kids chose not to come out for the team outside of Grubbs, Welz and Seidl. Should Willie have simply kept 10 kids until the football season started and then have them say since the football season took so long they really do not want to play? The only point that I will make in regards to Willie is that IMO he needs to become more visible in the community and attend some games at Moyer, Dayton, Sports of All Sorts and wherever else there are kids playing.

Until this happens we won't see HHS as a consistent regional title contender and they won't have as much success as they should with all the talent walking those halls.

I'd rather he not; hate to see this thread turn into a CovCath football coach- like thread.

 

I always felt it was best not to air out dirty laundry in public. If someone has a problem with some coach at Highlands, the principal and super have phone numbers. Use them.

I don't buy that. I bet if Dale never came to a game that HHS would have the same results.
