Bench, the backup at Raceland is an average QB at best in a QB friendly system. Rister is a legitimate lower level D1 prospect. Don't take my word for it. Ask any high school coach in the area that have seen both play. Raceland would get an upgrade at QB even over this years QB. No desrespect, just fact not an opinion. You will see. Mason was just in a bad spot as a sophmore. He was behind the best athlete in the 16th region.

 

Nothing against the kid but he is no where near a D-1 caliber QB. He's a good athlete but lower-level D-1, come on now, lets be realistic. I have personally seen him play and have also had the oppurtunity to coach him at a camp in Owensboro this past summer and he is not that type of player. A good, solid and productive football player, yes, very much so. But a division one QB, you are way off base my friend. However I do hope that he comes to Raceland and helps out our program because like I said, the kid can play and would add another athlete into the mix for the Rams offense. As for the QB situation at Raceland, personally I'm biased towards Tyler Farley because I've had the oppurtunity to watch the kid grow up and mature as a QB and I think he will do very well in Raceland's system but I'm sure Rister would be welcomed with open arms by the Ram players and coaching staff and will have the oppurtunity to compete for playing time.

I am sure the state of Greenup County football doesnt rest upon one Jr QB. Whether he stays or heads down the road, Greenup will fill the void and do just fine IMO.

 

Paul Brown had a speech he made to his team at the start of every season. One of his key statements to the players was, "You are all important, but not a one of you is necessary." I think maybe that quote needs to get spread around to the athletes and parents in high school sports as well.

The idea of combining the middle school football teams was presented to the Board of Ed last night. The idea was well received. A committee will soon be established to do a feasibility study, outlining how this can be accomplished. The committee will then present their findings to the Board.

 

There were alot of supporters at the Board meeting. It was good to see folks from both ends of the county, working together to improve Greenup County Football.

Nothing, other than Mr. Baker is working hard to find the right hire.

My daughter is a 4 year cheerleader and beleive me it is a sport and an expensive one at that too.

Problem is it does not count toward title IX. I know a number of coaches that would love for it to have it count.

I heard from a very very good source that Dontae Wright was asked to fill the position but turned it down. I think that it was the right move since he wants to stay in the ranks of the collegiate level. He will hopefully be hired onto the staff at Miami Ohio.

He's a good friend and I haven't talked to him about it but he would be a great hire for anybody in the area! GREAT guy, knows the game and is a kid magnet! He is going to do big things as a coach mark it down. I tried like crazy to get him and Gerad Parker hired when I moved home. UK snatched both of them up before it could happen.
