Greenup don't have the Athletes to run the spread offense to pass every play. At Raceland they have Tyler Farley at QB for the next two years(already knows the system and the players around him.). Farley is just as good as QB as Rister is, if not better. Raceland didn't pass every other play, they had two players that went over thousand yards rushing(Bret Denton and John Scott Carver). Next year they will have Cody Kelly back and a transfer coming in to help with the rushing game. I don't see Mason leaving. He's at the right spot at the right time and all he has to do is work hard to be seen for the next level. Also I wouldn't just limit myself to just one offense. When a coaching change happens you're going to hear kids wanting to transfer but the best thing for kids is to stay put and try to build a program. Working through though time's, college coach's look at that and that's what coach's want to build a program around!

Ask any high school coach in the area that have seen both play. Raceland would get an upgrade at QB even over this years QB. No desrespect, just fact not an opinion. You will see. You can be the best QB in the world, but what good is it if you don't have a line to allow you enough time to pass or recievers to catch it.

Is Rister over 6'? Usually D1 wants a little size. Some of the first questions is college want to know "How big is he, How fast is he, and what his GPA?"

Not that Rister not good QB in HS but College is a little different. IMO

oops, you are right on that one...just didn't think about them physically moving. So many just transfer without changing residences. But this would be one way to get him active. Still stinks, IMO.

Rister's not going anywhere and I will guarantee that, our kids are coming through GCHS at a special time, when they can be the ones that made the change happen, there is not any time more special than when you can be part of a change for the overall good, you stayed through the tough times and worked hard and you actually were the ones that made it happen, and our kids have that chance now at GCHS to be legendary.

 

Now back to the issue, GCHS coach, I have heard some great things about our applicants. I have also heard that there are some very successful coaches that are very interested in GCHS but they are also very interested in what we are going to do to make the program better, facilities, support, etc, and they are monitoring this forum.

 

I can tell any coach that is interested this: We have the opportunity at this point in time to get what we need for the program to get it back on track, the admin wants it, the BOE wants it, the community wants it and most of all, the kids want it. We have the BOE's ear and support, I know this to be a fact, all we have to do is ask and have solid justification that what we want is going to help our program be at the top in the state.

 

The time is perfect for that special coach to come in and make a positive change in the entire community.

Not the point, those are sports in our country that both male and female participate in.

Not trying to cause trouble, but it appears to be your point. Your post sounded like you were using the possibility of female athletes using the turfed field to play lacrosse or field hockey. If it's not your point, then your analogy is bad.

Well said! The focus should be on the team, not on any individual. There are many boys who have/and will play, regardless of who the coach is, just because they love football and want to play! I hope everyone turns out for the Board meeting, to show their support for the Musketeers!
