Good game on both parts. Highlands won the game upfront. Christian County could not run the ball except had some success on speed option. Thought going in to the game Christian could throw the ball on them and they did. Highlands put alot of pressure on Countys QB which limited the deep ball plus Highlands DBs were playing 8 to 10 yards off. Highlands DB's did a great job off coming off the stalk blocks and laid some good licks in.

 

Christian County played hard and did not give up but just got beat by a better team. Highlands offensive line is very very good. Fort Thomas runs Counter Trey better than any team I've seen in Kentucky ever!

 

As for next year I look for Highlands to be back. I like their back-up QB. He could be as good as the last two and thats saying alot.

Sure it does because we all know that the unlikely never happens.

 

I prefer what is rather than what if. The likelyhood of HHS not going into the half with the lead was very small at that point. Fact remains that CC still came out and stopped the Birds on the first series like they needed to. I believe more than anything that controlled momentum was that every time CC made a play, HHS answered. HHS turns the ball over deep, CC scores a TD, then HHS comes right back with a TD. HHS turns the ball over deep, defense holds them to a missed FG. HHS turns the ball over deep, defense holds them to a FG rather than a TD. Offense comes back down the field seemingly at will with a couple big plays. When you're the underdog at some point that really gets frustrating.

Go on with the fantasy that it mattered if you like. But the fact is, CC came right back and scored after that--effectively negating any supposed "momentum." But really this is a moot point, because the catch was good.

Another shout out: #42 Oliver Head, played an outstanding game. If I didn't know anyone on the team and was asked which player was playing his last high school game, I would have said #42. His KO return was just sic. Every tackle was just punishing. Great game, great career Oliver!:thumb:

I'm as big as HHS fan there is but no way was that catch good. The officials were blocked from the view and it was a tough call to make. Goad did a nice job of cradling it after the bounce. HHS scores then and then takes the first drive of the 2nd half and scores to score 14 points before CC even gets the opportunity to have the ball. Do I thnk HHS wins, yes, they have done it all year when it matters the most, but as a fan off football I just want to see the correct calls made.

I think if Highlands had one "weakness" this year, it would be that they scored too quickly. I know this sounds silly, but, especially in the playoffs,they played a lot of ball control teams. These teams would take 6 minutes or more to score, or not score and Highlands would take one or two minutes to score and therefore, the defense was on the field all of the time. No matter how good of condition they were in, this can take a toll.
