Overweight and Bad knees. But I cope with it.

My wife and I got married 15 1/2 years ago. We had family pictures made over the Thanksgiving weekend, so we pulled out our wedding pictures. Our children were 4th,6th and 8th graders. We were 37 when we married and I had not a single white hair on my head or in my mustache. Now what hair I have is white and my mustache is solid white. Have two grandchildren and a third on the way. Yes stuff hurts that didn't used to and when sleeping wrong can cause you problems you know you're getting older.

I just wish I could sleep longer. 5 is about max. And that's with waking up once to , well you know.

Some days I would love to call in 'Gray'..:sssh:

Ok, going to start this post to see how many of us feel the same way. I graduated high school in 1973, I will be 54 years old this summer. I never thought I would feel this way but I really am feeling older. It is harder for my hands to take off lids, I walk a little slower, I have to concentrate a little harder. Now I know I'm not in the best shape that I could be in but come on. I thought my parents were old while I was in high school and they were probably my age - so I know my teenage sons think that I'm old. We were the generation that was never going to be as old as our parents - what happen?

As for the bolded question.............Life happened.:D Mom, what we lack in being in the shape that we used to be in I always tell them that I can make up for it with intimidation,...:scared::D

I graduated high school in 1975 and yes, I am definatley feeling old these days although a big reason for that is my health problems.

:thumb: I call it "sick and tired"....I am "sick and tired of being sick and tired"

:laugh::laugh: I am guilty of this as well!

Recovery time is much tougher in regards to many things. I feel in pretty good shape for 37 and still hit the gym 3/4 times a week. I just cant stop playing garbage man for the food my kids dont eat. Lower back pain and foot pain is what I notice much more of as I get older.

I will be 30 in January, so I wouldn't consider myself old, but I sure feel it. I have spent too many years abusing my body with sports, MMA fighting, and not living a generally healthy lifestyle. It is now catching up with me.

Extra weight, a torn miniscus, etc. has really slowed me down. In fact, I spent about 4 hours in my garage last night, working on a bike. When I went to bed, I could barely straighten out from being bent over for so long.

At 33 and on the downhill slide towards 34 I am without a doubt in the best shape of my life. But I can definitely tell a that stuff hurts longer and easier. Also takes longer to heal.

I'm 44...Six years ago when I was 38...I got in the best shape of my life from running and eating better...Well Six years later I'm out of shape again...The Key to staying young is to exercise and eat healthy...I started back this week to get back my fountain of youth...:thumb:

I'm 43 and I like to think to myself that I'm still young and can do the same stuff I did 20 yrs. ago, but it is simply not true. Until this year, I didn't think too much about getting older. But, since my knee surgery, I can no longer do many of the things I did prior to it. If I get caught in the rain, I can't run to shelter (just walk briskly now) because my knee still doesn't operate how I wish it would. I've been an avid skiier for several years, but will have to miss this ski season for the 2nd year while I continue to heal up. Walking down stairs is a sight to behold now:D. When I stand up, crackles and pops are actually audible.

BUT....................................

The current problems and diminished physical abilities I have experienced are nothing compared to what many people must endure. Sure, I can't do what I used to do because of my knee, but then there are people who would give anything just to be able to stand up on their own without assistance. Sure, my sight has worsened, but I bet a blind person would be happy with my vision. And on and on...................

When it comes down to it, I feel blessed and am happy with the shape I'm in at 43. And as the old saying goes, growing old is better than the alternative.

I turned 50 this year and I'll tell you, things that were easy just 6 months ago, hurt now.
