Yeah, I think it's a collective "wishful thinking". Not to take anything from the Pioneers. I couldn't be more thrilled for them.

No way is SK the best team in nky. No disrespect to them cause they are in the state championship but IMO Newcath and Beechwood are still better than them and would beat them.

 

Newcath thumped SK in the first week and while SK has gotten better, so has Newcath. I think it's be a close match up in a second go around, but I'd still say SK is the 4th best team in nky behind Highlands, NCC, and Beechwood.

I never said SK would beat Trinity!!!! To be honest with you, they are about to have a huge wake up call this Friday. This will definately be a measuring stick for Simon Kenton football.

 

I hope the stick is long enough to fit the difference between the two teams!

I'll say this. If SK was to pull off the unexpected victory this week, I would rank T and X no higher than #'s 5 & 6 respectively in the state this year.

I would not say that they are the most talented, because they're just not, but I would say that their heart and hard nosed approach to the game makes up for what they don't have in pure talent.

 

They are playing some really good ball at a perfect time, and have done everything they have had to do to get to this point, but they aren't "better" than a highlands or an NCC, but come to think of it they weren't better than Boone or Male, and many picked them to lose to Conner. Basically I don't think that's a fair question to ask of these kids. There is a few teams that are "better," but they have been good enough to make it to the state title game. That's not to shabby.

 

I agree with this post. Sk's playoff run reminds me of the Steelers most recent Super Bowl run. The Steelers absolutely were not the best team in the NFL that year but they somehow kept putting together games and won it all. SK has done the same thing. I don't think they would be favored to win against any of the other 3 N. Ky. teams in title games but SK hasn't been the favorite in a game in about 2 months and they keep winning. That's why they play the games.

I don't think they are the best team in NKY. Highlands obviously is, and I'd say Newcath probably would still beat them in a rematch. But I don't know that Beechwood would beat them to be honest.
