January 20, 200917 yr Could Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant do any of the things LeBron does athletically? Could either of them get to the basket and be able to consitently score with contact like LeBron could. Can Kobe Bryant pull down rebounds and fight balls out of the hands of bigs like LeBron can. Could EITHER MJ or Kobe pin as many shots on the backboard like LeBron does? And don't give me Kobe is better than LeBron. His team won last night, but LeBron is playing without his starting Center and 2 Guard. And it's not like he has anyone that can pick up the slack. Let me pose this question to you that say he's not better than Kobe. Why are the Cavaliers 31-8? and Undefeated at home?

January 20, 200917 yr He's not. He's not even better than Kobe yet. Easy there. Better than Kobe? Easily. Kobe has the most talented team in the league IMO. The teams records are identical. It's LBJ23 all the way. It's not even close. Kobe is a better pure shooter sure, but he may be the best "jump shooter" of all-time. LeBron is the best player in league history at attacking the basket. He is one of the great passers to ever play the game. His "J" is getting better, and his defense, especially off the ball it top notch. Not to mention that he rebounds better than most post players and has become one of the leagues top shot blockers. His all-around game is remniscent of Oscar Robertson. No one can do what he can do. Kobe is just a poor man's Jordan. LeBron is breaking the mold if you don't want to say he's the best of all-time fine, but no one is in his league in the NBA. For instance.... LeBron James - 27.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 6.6 APG, 2.1 SPG, 1.1 BPG Kobe Bryant- 27.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 5.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, .3 BPG Chris Paul- 20 PPG, 11.1 APG, 2.7 SPG Dwayne Wade- 28.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 7.4 APG, 2.3 SPG And of all three of these the Cavs have by far the worst supporting cast. Lakers have Bynum, Gasol, Fisher, Odom and some nice role players. Hornets have Stojakovic, Chandler, and David West. Heat aren't good but Shawn Marion or Michael Beasley would be the better than anyone who has every played beside LeBron. On the Cavs its LBJ followed my Mo Williams, Big Z who's old and bad, and a collection of the NBA's worst 9 remaining players to fill out the roster. Sure Gibson and West can shoot but what else? Varajao may be a hustler but c'mon! The Cavs COULD win the title, and it would be all LeBron. How could was Kobe when he had no talent? He just sat and cried. LeBron just takes what he's got and wins. LeBron is 24. His career stat line reads 27.4 PPG, 7 RPG, 6.6 APG, 2 SPG, and 1 BPG. For Comparison Kobe at 24. 21.4 PPG, 5 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.5 SPG, .6 BPG Heck Kobe's Career stats don't even measure up to LeBron. 25.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 5 APG, 2 SPG, less than one BPG. The stats tell the story. LeBron is really better in just about every catagory. If you're not a stat guy, just watch a few games. Or try most of the NBA season like I do. I really like the NBA, even better than the NCAA. So I know what I'm talking about. I know 15 years from now people won't believe that a player was able to actually overtake MJ for greatness but LeBron is on pace. LeBron is a hybrid, he has taken the best parts of what seems like all the great ones and puts it into one player. He gets to the basket like Jordan, passes like Magic, has the all around game of Oscar, has the off the ball defense of Pippen, and rebounds like Rodman. Not to mention that he is as physically dominant at his position as Shaq was in the paint in his prime. While even Jordan couldn't claim to be the best at all parts of the game, eventually I think LeBron could. If he becomes a lights out shooter (he's getting better) no one will be in the same galaxy as him. I think he could honestly lead the league in all 5 statistical catagories one day, even though it would be tough to do with CP3 handing out a million assist a game and D-Howard locking down the boards. But, this is going to be the greatest era for NBA basketball, and he is going to be 10 times as good as the next best player in the league. Sorry about the rant, but I like to have facts to base my aruguments on.
January 21, 200917 yr I know what the stats are. Kobe is better than Lebron at this point. I agree with this statment. Lebron is definitely more athletic...but Kobe is a better basketball player.
January 21, 200917 yr Dude MJ had terrible teams around him and still won.. MJ, Kobe... Bron isn't in that discussion yet.. Not even close

January 21, 200917 yr When? I know he had Pippen who was great. Horace Grant was above average, but the rest of his help was well, bad. Bill Cartwright and Luke Longley were starting Centers for championship teams.. Come on, if thats the best you can put out at Center you might as well not have one.
January 21, 200917 yr Toni Kukoc was a very good player... Dennis Rodman didn't score a lot, but he rebounded everything that came near him... Ron Harper was a good player, though he never got a ton of minutes in Chicago. He averaged 20 a game the year before going to the Bulls and taking a big cut in minutes. Even after his limited roles, he's a career 14 PPG guy. BJ Armstrong was a solid role player, as was Steve Kerr and John Paxson. The teams weren't full of all stars, but terrible? No.

The best pound for pound rebounder of all time? Bad? Really? Toni Kucoc was not bad. Steve Kerr was not bad. Ron Harper was a great defensive player. Sure, Jordan made them better but they were not "bad". Especially Rodman...

And he missed the first 3 'ships. The Bulls later years were very good teams, first 3 championships were not.
January 21, 200917 yr PMIC, Let's think, who would you rather have on your team? Wally Sczerbiak, who has never been anything more than a spot shooter. Zydrunaz Illguaskus and Ben Wallace who are both past their primes, Anderson Varajeo who is nothing more than a decent offensive rebounder, Delonte West and Daniel Gibson and JJ Hickson. Dennis Rodman who was one of the best Rebounding and Defensive big men of all time. Scottie Pippen one of the fifty greatest players in NBA history, Tony Kukoc, who was one of the first Foreign Swingmen to be good. Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan alone are better than any combination LeBron has ever been with. So don't give me that. And when do stats not matter? Kobe has a veteran Point Guard that has won titles before. An all-star type player in Lamar Odom, one of the better big men in the NBA in Gasol and one of the better up and coming bigs in the NBA in Bynum. What does LeBron have? Mo Williams. And what has Kobe ever accomplished without Shaq? A bunch one and dones in the Playoffs and an embarrasing finals last season. LeBron is better than Kobe and if you don't say he's better than Jordan right now, wait until he gets some decent players-decent, not Mo Williams, Delonte west, Wally Sczerbiak, Illguaskus and Ben Wallace. But a player that would be in the same discussion as Scottie Pippen, like Brandon Roy, Chris Bosh, Amare etc.

Sure, Jordan made them better but they were not "bad". Especially Rodman... All 3rd championship on players. All of MJ's teams before that were bad.. We must also remember MJ played before the 90s and put up huge numbers before Pippen..

Are we forgetting Jordan was great in the 80s as well.. Jordan did the same thing LJ is doing before Pippen showed up.. Jordan had no help before Pippen.. Lebron has time to find his Pippen, and become on of the greatest..
