December 11, 200817 yr I enjoyed watching this guy when he and The Franchise were with Houston... Heart condition forcing Knicks' Mobley to retire http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3762828 GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- New York Knicks guard Cuttino Mobley retired from the NBA on Thursday because of heart disease that he said has gotten worse. obley said doctors told him he faced significant risks if he kept playing. The 11-year veteran said by walking away now, he could live a long life. Mobley, 33, announced his decision at a news conference at the Knicks' training center, where he confirmed he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The condition causes the heart muscle to thicken, making it harder to pump blood, and he said he had no choice but to end his career. "The specialists I've seen made it clear that my heart condition has gotten worse and I couldn't continue to play professional basketball without putting my health and life in serious danger," Mobley said. "As much as I want to keep playing in the NBA, I have no choice but to follow the advice of my doctors and step away from the league."

December 15, 200817 yr Memphis has now won 4 straight. They haven't done that in the last 3 seasons. It's all because they finally have more than 1 scorer now.
December 15, 200817 yr OJ has been on a tear this year having double figures every game so far, a rookie record.
December 18, 200817 yr If owners are dumb, make 'em pay http://www.sportsline.com/columns/story/11178089 I love that phrase, not because it's so brazen but because it's so true. Stephon Marbury, the non-Knick, is being paid to do nothing by an organization that deserves all the contemptuous laughter aimed its way. I don't even want to take sides on this one anymore. I don't care if Stephon Marbury ever plays again, or if the Knicks ever win again. I just like the sound of the phrase. I like the sound of it because it is the definitive condition of sports in the new millennium. Coaches get five-year deals and are fired after two years, or four games. Players get long deals that in some sports get paid out even if the players are cut after a year; in others, they can be fired in a heartbeat and not get a dime. The extraordinary level of waste and stupidity is breathtaking, because these people have too much money, not enough sense and no vision at all. I don't know why this just bothered me this morning, although the firing of Paul Ince, the first black manager in the history of the English Premiership, after less than half a year was something of an impetus. I mean, does anyone vet candidates for anything in sports anymore? Is sports money so plentiful that you can sign a guy, throw money at him, guess wrong and can him a few months later while thinking nothing of the expense?
