Any word out there on stats or anything?

 

Boyle had 221 yards rushing, Cath. had 87. Reece rushed for 166 yards. Boyle had 60 passing while Cath. had 160 yards.

How 'bout them REBELS !!!! Great game. Some thoughts from the game.

 

McShara had a great game but did not beat them by himself.

 

Lex. Cath's D gave the rebels fits all night. Had the snap count down and blitzed up the middle all night.

 

Agree with the poster saying the Lex Cath wr's were not aggresive. Qb was pretty good.

 

Boyle was very, very physical.

 

Mason ran the ball very tough.

 

Guess that's enough. Have many more thoughts but don't want to write a book.

Exciting game. It had the feel of the first game where I felt like the Rebels had control, but that Catholic could take that momentum away at anytime. This is the first game I have screamed as much as I did and I look forward to screaming in Log Mountain. BGPer toolaidback sat in front of me at the game and we high fived all night, especially on the hook and lateral play to Rees MacShara. Great play, great game, great outcome. The Rebels are back ladies and gentlemen. And yes, Rees MacShara should be at least mentioned in the Mr. Football hunt.

 

Hey purplepride92, let's just hope we're screaming and high fiving next week. Great game Rebels, Reese was awesome again tonight. I also thought Phillip Mason had a great game. He seemed to be more relaxed tonight and not panic when things didn't work out right. It was good meeting Purplepride and Labman from BGpreps. Hope to see you guys next Friday.

:thumb::dancingpaBoyle's defence was outstanding once again, I thought Lexington Catholics Qb was very good. Catholic had alot of athletic talent at wide-receicer and tight-end, but Boyle's defence is amazing about swarming to the ball and making the tackle. Very hard hitting and exciting game! Off to Log-Mountain!

Next week is going to be a very good game. Bell County has only give up 32 points this entire season and 14 of those was tonight. I think the Boyle/Bell game is for the state title (IMO of course).

Great game as expected. Both teams' defenses played tough as most knew they would. Gotta love that hook and ladder play which happened right in front of where we were sitting. Looking forward to the trip to Bell next week.

 

The LC fans had a sign which said "God Made Catholic #1". Apparently not at least tonight. Though, I definitely have great respect for their team as their kids fought til the end.

I know you have to be pumped by this game. Did Boyle's defense do a good job containing the Knights as they did in the first game? How did each score? Drives? Big Plays? The updates thread didn't detail much.

 

I just watched the game highlights and they showed the hook and lateral play. That play was set up so nicely we started screaming as soon as Brett Marshall lateraled it to Rees because it was all day light for Rees.

 

I was impressed by the fact that after we took 2 plays after the opening kickoff to score. We had a great return, Crutchfield ran a WR Sweep for about 15 yards and then Rees scored on the next play,48 yards I think. 46 seconds off the clock and we had 6 points.

 

Catholic's third possession when they scored a field goal was saved on 3 different stops on 3rd downs by the refs. It was a long drive, but a pass interference call got them a first down deep in their own territory. I think an imaginary late hit got them another first down, and a bad spot got them another first down. It was amazing they only came away with a field goal.

 

All in all, it was a great performance by the Rebels. I couldn't be more proud. I hope they cancel the basketball game next Friday so it will be easier for me to make it to Log Mountain. We can play Somerset some other time, we got a state title to chase.

The bad spot was a bad call indeed. They blew that one. The late hit and the pass interference I thought were good calls. I was on the Catholic sideline and both happened 10 feet from me. Mental mistakes, but good calls.

The pass interference looked too close to call that one, let them play I say. From the Boyle County side it looked like great defense.

 

The late hit, I can see both sides of the argument. Play to the whistle is my stance, it wasn't that late of a hit. Was he going down, yes, but a penalty, I dunno. If they won't call horse collar tackles, might as well not call piling on. We hit em in the mouth here in Boyle County.:fight:

Congrats to Boyle Coounty Football Team.

 

BC made the big plays at key times tonight. LC did not get the big plays tonight and did not get out of the gate in the 2nd half.

 

The hook and lateral TD was very well executed and a nice play.

 

LC did fight back in the 4th after being down 2 TDs. But a 3 and out after the recovered onsides made the unlikely comeback that much harder.

 

A relatively young Knights team did the school proud fighting back from a deep hole and fighting down to the absolute last play.

 

Again, congrats to the Boyle County Football Team.

The late hit came from the fact the Boyle player led with his head on the head of the Cath. player while he was on the ground. No other way to call it. The pass int. he hit him early and made no attempt to play the ball. The bad thing was that if he just tackles him Catholic is still 5 yards short for the first down.

 

I am a Boyle fan all the way. But I have to call them as I see them. If it's any consolation I thought Cath. got away with several holds againt our d-ends.
