I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but since you asked what happened: various condiments were splashed or squirted on all of the bleachers on the visitor's side. Someone provided a box of garbage bags so that the seats could be covered before sitting down. A moot point since if you in fact did sit down, you couldn't see the game over the LexCath bench players. I prefer to stand up anyway, so at least in this atmosphere I didn't hear anyone say "down in front" All of this back and forth takes away from the action on the field, however. Overall, I find the Boyle County fans to be most gracious and I love the home field grandstands. I wish we had something like that at LC although I don't think we would ever pack 'em in like the Rebel faithful

I hate to hear that things like this went on. I would like to know what happened as well. It seems as some fans are getting less mature as this is the 2nd or 3rd incident throughout the year I have heard involving us and the other teams' fans. I heard we had some classless fans at the LexCath game in Lexington that were yelling and cussing at LexCath players and coaches after the first game. I love a good rivalry, but I prefer we not look like idiots. It paints us all in a bad light.

 

Ketchup, mustard, and honey. The officials' "cleanup" was placing a box of trash bags in the stands.

Enough of the comments, regarding the Stands. Discuss the play on the field and those who participated.

The bad spot was a bad call indeed. They blew that one. The late hit and the pass interference I thought were good calls. I was on the Catholic sideline and both happened 10 feet from me. Mental mistakes, but good calls.

 

I am not a fan of either team. Just a fan of football. I was standing in the endzone opposite the score board and I would agree that I also believe that the pass interference call was a good call, also think the overturn call on the other pass interference was the right call. I didn't see the late hit call or couldn't see the spot on the first down from the endzone but I thought It was a great game and that the refs did a decent job. Congradulations to both teams on their accomplishments this year. You should both be proud. Good luck

The pass interference looked too close to call that one, let them play I say. From the Boyle County side it looked like great defense.

 

The late hit, I can see both sides of the argument. Play to the whistle is my stance, it wasn't that late of a hit. Was he going down, yes, but a penalty, I dunno. If they won't call horse collar tackles, might as well not call piling on. We hit em in the mouth here in Boyle County.:fight:

The old saying play or hit to the whistle is false. The whistle does not make the player down. The player is already down by rule. A player is down if any part of his body touches the ground other than his foot or hand, or if he goes out of bounds, or if it is ruled that his forward progress has been stopped.

I agree. I thought they did the best you can expect for such a big game. There where some questionable calls, but I thought it went both ways. Thats all you can ask for, to go both ways and not more towards 1 team getting all the breaks. The 4th. and inches fumble for a firstdown was the correct spot for the Knights. Just a bad break for Boyle or goodluck for Lex Cath. It was a legit fumball that was kicked forward and recovered by the Knights.

 

I think everyone agrees that this group was One Thousand times better than from the first meeting between these two teams.

Had the players just let go of him without the whistle being blown he would have been awarded any extra yardage he received because the play wasn't ruled dead. The play they called a late hit was the same type of hitting going on all night.

 

And yes, this group of refs was a 1000x better than the group from the first game.

I agree ddky70 with you on the horse collar. I was on the Boyle sideline and the official on that side said that the Boyle player lead with his helmet.

 

On the second pass interference, the official said that the pass was behind the line of scrimmage. That is why the it was overturned.

It absolutely was not the same type of hitting going on all night. The boy was on the ground and the Boyle player drove his head into the head of the downed player hitting no other part of his body. I have nothing against the Boyle player, nor Boyle county. But it was a good call. :confused:

Good job Rebels, you had to play 11 on 15 (officials) most of the night, but still came away with a huge win. Now onward to Log Mountain to make believers out of the AP polls. I didn't agree with several calls, but I guess the refs were doing the best they could.

 

Good Luck next week against Bell, just 2 more to go. Lets get it done..
