Does anyone have a real understanding of the level of interest in Miles Simpson? Which schools are legitimately interested? Any offers?

 

UC is VERY interested. Not sure if there is an offer yet, but he was the first recruit out of over 250 to check in this morning...

SK played against a much better defense this week at Boone, and they better not make the same mistake that Boone did, that is a more balanced offensive attack! It will be crucial that they can work in some kind of aerial game along with the defensive performance they executed against Boone! By the way, who is number 74 on SK'S line,does he have any offers?:thumb:

I was right behind this one, I thought that was DaMan taking the picture but didn't want to say, are you "Daman"? Lokesak fumbled his first reception, and came close to fumbling this one.

 

Like Cooperstown stated, SK's defense was very good tonight, sure they gave up more than a few first downs but when push came to shove they showed up. A total 180 from the last game, for most of the game they were all over Alford when he attempted a pass. A great game by Matt Neil, he's the type you want to go to battle with, he doesn't lack emotion. Just holding the trophy brought a tear to my eye, over 1,000 players have worn the Simon Kenton uniform, and only one playoff victory prior to this season. The 2008 team has no idea how proud WE are of what YOU have done. Win or loss on Friday, what YOU have accomplished is something to be proud about. To this day, I have plenty of great tales to tell about my playing days, and I won all of 10 games as a varsity player. Nine wins, and the opportunity to play one of the most historic programs in the nation, and I just don't think you'll be ready, I know you will. Don't let history determine this next game, history is history. The foundation has been set, build on that foundation. The goals of this program have changed, went from being "I hope we don't lose by 50, to I think we can play with this team, to I know we can win. WE BELIEVE.

I've read that he's projected more as a defensive player, but then again that sight has him as a one star prospect. My guess is that will change. From what I've seen, the sky is the limit, I hope we (SK fans) won't have to wait 42 years to see another like Miles, but honestly it may be longer, he's that good. On top of that, he seems to have a head on his shoulders, in every interview I've seen or read, he's ALWAYS been humble, that says a bunch in today's age of me first players.

He's a very good defensive player, and he brings that same attitude on the offensive side. He came close quite a few times to breaking off the big one last night, and that is a compliment to the BC defense, they made plays to contain Miles. I told Guru I would purchase a picture or two of Miles if he attended, and I would love it if he had the picture when he gained 10 yards and never went down, almost the entire BC defense was around him in a scrum.

I've dealt with a lot of big time recruits over the last few years. After a landmark win last night he was checking in at UC before any of the 250 other kids invited this morning. I didn't see it, but was told he looked exhausted this morning at 9. Something I've yet to see...

They just played for a Regional Title and they should get rid of a coach, based off a 14-7 loss?

 

No, based on years of not being able to get over the same hump. He's a good guy and a decent coach, but that team needs some new ideas in a big way to take the next step. 6A in these parts isn't exactly a murderer'r row. If there was going to be a progression it would have happened by now.

Unless Boone is satisfied with being close , they have two options:

 

1. Commit to an open offense and get away from one kid carrying 53 times in a game

 

or

 

2. Get a new head coach.

 

Coach Thompson's inability or lack of desire to fix the one major weakness preventing them from getting over the hump should be a concern.

 

It's really a head scratcher, Boone has been able to plug in a "stud" RB every year, but have never taken their offense to the next level when it comes to balance. Ryle seems to be expanding their offense, and I'm guessing that their matchup with Trinity in '06 was enough to prove that you can't win the 6A title on running alone. Conner on the other hand is almost strictly a passing offense with West being their best rusher. I think if you are a coach you have to play to your teams strenghts, and BC has always been run heavy but if I were coaching BC, I would have utilized Spalding on the offensive side, the kid is a playmaker, 17 catches this season, 11 on the offensive side, and six picks on defense.

I can see why he would be a bit exhausted, until last week's game his touches have been around the 20/game range, mostly because he's broken off huge gains, and there hasn't been a need to grind it out. But 41 against Conner, a shootout, and another 20+ against Boone is physical up front and fast on the edges, nothing came easy for Miles last night. Iknow for a fact that on two different runs to the left that he made the BC defender pay for the tackle. I don't know what percentage of defensive plays he's had this season, but I would bet that his snaps are down a bit on the defensive side since he has to be able to bring it on offense. At this point, I know of two teams within a close range of Independence who could use a boost at the RB position. He could be a major force in BK's backfield.

You think that Merrit's being replaced??

My comment was about someone calling for a new coach after their team advanced to the Regional Championship game, and had a great season. I think I would keep that coach.
