I was a bit disappointed that SK's defense couldn't adjust to slow down Conner's passing attack. Simpson and West are two all-stars for sure! Congrats to the Pioneers!!!

 

Thats why its a team game! if the offense sputters the defense steps ups, if the defense sputters then the offense steps ups. SK plays as a team!

So from the Pioneer sideline, it looked like Miles wanted out of the game? He look like he was hurting a little and the coaches didnt take him out? Is this correct?

It seemed like he was a bit gimpy after TD #5, but it didn't look like it hurt his performance later in the game. Miles was averaging under 20 carries per game before this one, he did double duty last night with 41 carries for 287.

He is a great player no doubt.

I agree Cooperstown, West is very impressive as a QB, considering they have no rushing game to speak of unless he's running the rock. He's very poised, and throws a very nice ball. When it's cold, the balls are hard and feel "pregnated", but he had no problem threading the needle, I'm just glad Conner jumped on the 4th and three play. I don't know what the TOP was in this game but Conner scored on quick strikes the whole second half. Their lasat drive was a long one, but SK had no answer for #10 and his Wrs. He's the best Qb in NKY since Lorenzen and he has the size to make it on the Divison 1 level.

 

 

Pugh is a very good running back and had a few hundred yard games this year. Also, on the option why do you think teams "force" the qb to keep the ball. When playing SK, who keeps six in the box to stop the run, you throw it.

SK was a pre-season pick to win the 6A in NKY, and they are where they are suppose to be. Took the rough road, but made it, congradulations and good luck.

I agree! Not counting Cooper, every team has their running back coming back, and every team but Boone has their qb coming back! :eek:

This was a great game no doubt, and so many details could be discussed, but I only will discuss this one! Before I get started let me first say that in 30 years of watching high school football Miles Simpson is one of the best I've ever seen! The things that this young man can do, most of which are natural abilities, is amazing! His vision,ability to make people miss while continuing his forward progress, strength,speed, and agility rivals some of the best running backs this entire state has offered for decades! That being said, IMO,Conner's lack of defense is what lost this game. Obviously the two turnovers proved to be costly, as in any big game, but it was the tackling IMO that proved to be the difference! This Cougar defense has not tackled well all year, with the exception of the Ryle game. That my friends comes down to coaching! Not to put a damper on a great season by the Cougars, or try and throw any one individual coach under the bus,but the tackling was an embarrassment. I've seen better tackling technique from an 8 year old pee wee football team:irked: If this type of approach to tackling is aloud to go on for an entire season and isn't addressed, one has to wonder about whoever is teaching it! Miles Simpson, Charles Quainoo, and even any of the best NFL running backs WILL GO DOWN IF YOU TACKLE THEM BY THE LEGS, PERIOD! :irked::irked: In the biggest game of the year Conner allowed more points than they have ALL YEAR to an opponent! Congratulations go to the Cougars as well for turning around their program! Mr. West has continued to get better and better throughout the season. I remember his 8th grade BCPWFL coach telling me a number of years ago that I should remember this young man since he was going to be a real stud by the time he got to high school. The same coach had a hand with another great QB at Conner, Trevor Stellman, along with many other recent and current players for the Cougars. He's seen his share of great players through the years. It's good to see him on the Cougar sideline now.

Nobody in football teaches players to tackle by the legs. You are uninformed. You should look up how to teach tackling and see if you can find any instruction on diving at legs. Coaches teach high tackling because it is the proper way to make sure tackles. If you played football, try to remember your form tackle drills. Did you form tackle during the drill by diving at your partners legs?
