early, Early, EARLY, prediction...Who's better, Cats -vs- Cards?

Featured Replies

On paper Louisville should be the better of the two, especially with all of their veteran leadership compared to Kentucky's drastic inexperience. However, to go with the thread as of right now I believe Kentucky is looking better than Louisville. I use the Missouri St. Louis game as an example being how well everyone played. Knowing their not the best of competition, it was just things such as knocking down so many shots, and doing things the right way. No matter what the competition, if you don't hit your shots you don't win, and Kentucky stayed hot throughout. The Ouachita game was a little different obviously, "BUT", Gillespie also used a different approach and examples of course being guys such as Krebs and Slone were like the third, fourth options coming off the bench, and guys such as Harrellson and Miller who played great on Monday didn't see much action Friday. Then likewise the guys that didn't play a lot or didn't play that well Monday got a lot of pt Friday. This is obvious with guys such as Stewart who didn't even hardly sniff the floor on Monday getting a whole heap of minutes Friday, and with the fore mentioned Krebs, Slone, Galloway, Perry, etc. getting to see good minutes on the floor Friday.

So with all the rambling and with the whole attempt of trying to explain myself, citing Mondays game against Missouri St. Louis as an example (being I feel this is the Kentucky team we can expect to see along with the guys that we should expect to see), the Cats at this point seemed more ready to go then the Cards. But as I said at the very beginning on paper it "should" be the the Ville instead.

I am pretty sure Stewart was held out of the 1st game because of a violation of team rules.

Your probably right, but he still got to play a little late in the game. You would think with him sitting because of team rules, he would have sit the entire game. And the point I was trying to make was that he wasn't the only one but instead a handful of guys who barely even got on the floor Monday, but racked up minutes on Friday.

I think its interesting with 2 teams because IMO neither have that great of PG play. Both teams have good wings with UK having Meeks, Harris, and Darius Miller. UL has Terrence Williams, Jerry Smith, Delk and Preston Knowles for starters. Inside UL has several good players and are deeper with quality depth. I think Patterson is at this point better than any UL interior player, but not by much. UL does have an advantage with quality depth, but last year Gillispie didn't play many players and things worked out well for the most part.

McGee, Sosa, and Knowles (sometimes) are MORE than efficient....

Hopefully it's the Cats over the Cards but I can't wait to watch Knowles play. I hope he has a great year.

This is a no brainer. While I do not invest much in to preseason rankings, there is a reason UL is a top 5 team and UK is about 30 spots behind them. UL returns the bulk of their team which gave UNC a battle in the Elite 8. UK returns 1 proven scorer, no PG play, and questionable depth.

Stewart played 0 minutes in the first game. He did not ever dress do to team violations that were not disclosed. Check the box scores he was not even listed on the roster for that game.

The Ville should win this match up.

UL. Comparing the two rosters, UL is deeper, more talented, and much more experienced.

As much as I hate to say it...UL. I feel that UK has looked better in the exhibition games, but being exhibition and the T-Will factor being missing, I think that UL would win in a close game. I think UK can pull off the upset only if we have no injuries prior to the game, and we stay out of foul trouble. the post game for Lville will be dificult to guard because Patterson can only guard Clark or Samuels, and, while I really like Harrellson, I am not ready to say he can guard either of them at this point in time.

I disagree. Sosa did not have a good season at all last year and I just haven't ever been all that impressed with McGee. IMO UL is great everywhere, but PG.

I am a huge UK fan but UL is a lot better going into the season.

Same here and ditto. UL is better right now.

Cards have more talent this year, although they may not yet be playing like it.

You can disagree if you want, but UL is just as strong at PG as they are everywhere else... Maybe you should watch them more than you do, you'll have a better grasp about what's going on.
