Maybe it is, but obviously Beechwood had cheerleaders! Maybe someone from Beechwood could comment on how they maintain their excellent cheerleading program to the 9th grade level.

 

Beechwood may not have golf, tennis, volleyball , softball, etc. I think you have to have even amount of boys to girls sports. I could be wrong about the whole thing , but I thought that cheerleading fell into the sport catagory and that is why they are limited in how much they can participate .

For all you Title 9 supporters, here is a prime example of left wing extremists taking something way too far! Who are the ones who suffer? The students!!!

I would like to congratulate Beechwood frosh for the win. You have a very nice team and you played a great game.

 

 

Also, I want to thank the Highlands frosh for giving us an exciting football season. You all are a great group of guys and I'm looking forward to watching you contribute to the varsity in the years to come.:thumb:

It has nothing to do with Title IX. The freshman girls try out and make the JV team. There is not enough interest left to have a freshman squad for those that don't make JV. If they don't make JV they pretty much don't want to cheer. The JV cheerleaders don't even cheer for the JV footballs games. A few years ago they had like 5 frosh cheerleaders. A couple quit and then three remaining didn't want to cheer with just three of them and eventually stopped cheering at the games. This is a problem that could easily be fixed by the administration and the new sponsor.

I volunteered to take the job each of the last 3 years and told the former director of the program 10 years ago that I would be available to do ANYTHING needed to help the program. I think that there were just some people that didn't want the help. I hope that things change.

The entire Ft. Thomas school system has become a joke when it comes to supporting the various sports teams in their endeavors. There are no longer pep rallies held for the big game on Friday night for any sport. The band might as well just stay home, heck they do not even come to a 1/4 of the basketball games. I do not know what has happened with regard to the student body coming to games. I guess there are better things to do than go to a game. As for the cheerleaders, RR was partly correct. There are numerous freshman that cheer, but all are on the JV squad. There were not even enough girls that tried out for cheerleading to have a frosh squad to begin with. Title IX does have an impact on the number of games that the girls can cheer. There were cheerleaders for one JV game this year and then they were told that they could not cheer those games anymore. The new dance team and soccer have also had a tremendous impact on the cheerleading squad. As for not having 6th grade basketball, that to falls on the administration of the Fort Thomas Schools. Hopefully some of them read these various posts and do something about it, but I doubt it because they are more focused on attaining those high CATS scores.

There's really no excuse for that -- especially in our own house! Just curious, do we not have freshman cheerleaders this year? :confused:

Maybe some former bluebirds can fill us in on fan support from past student bodies. I think its poor across the board. I was embarrassed for the players last night when the beechwood team bursted through that banner and our boys simply jogged around the goalpoast. In my opinion a pep club should be formed at the school and they should focus on supporting all teams as much as possible. Ask the players if it matters I'm sure they will tell you it does.

Does Beechwood not have "real" game jerseys for the frosh level or have they always wore jerseys that looked somewhat like practice jerseys?
