Congrats to the Rams! This will be my last post for the season. Some people don't agree with me posting on here and perceive it as something that it is not. But like a wise man told me tonight, PERCEPTION is everything is our business. Good luck to all area teams come playoff time. I hope you reconsider. I really think that you may have gotten some bad advise. Anyone who holds your activity on BGP against you, in your like of work, is not a creditable figure in my mind. There are a lot of people on BGP in your line of work, along with coaches, administrators, and other figures. I don't think you have ever shown favoritism, and you always give you unbiased opinion no matter who you are talking about.

 

I think BGP has nothing to do with your job. I hope you reconsider, I will miss your thoughts if you quit posting.:thumb:

I am amazed at all the negative posts regarding tackling, coaching, play calling and score. I posted on the prediction thread that this would be a great game and it was. Any rival game will be close, no matter the records and no matter the favorite. I was on the sidelines and yes, both teams had some penalties and some bad plays, but it's football. Every play is designed to score on paper, but on the field that hardly ever happens. I thought it was a game of two highly ranked teams with great football tradition. Now it's on to the playoffs for Russell and on to game ten for Raceland. Both teams are 0-0 going into our next games. Good luck to the Devils in two weeks, may you go far into the playoffs. And to our Rams, next week is senior night, let's go out and TCB!:dancingpa

I guess "Burnout" wasnt quite as burned out as alot of people on here thought. Way to stick to your guns Burnout. You almost pulled it off.

 

Thanks for giving me some credit Coupon. I think most people now realize that my football knowledge is not as bad as most people thought. I was giving an honest assessment, and people that that I was more burn out then I really am.

 

Russell's line did play well, as I said.

Boyles made some bad passes, as I said.

Russell secondary did play well, as I said.

Raceland had some trouble stopping the Russell running game, as I said, but Raceland did defend better then I expected.

The outcome, I was a little off on, I will give credit to Raceland for pulling the win out. They did play well, and deserved the win.

 

It was a great game, with two teams that played hard. Until next year.........

I think the Rams may have cause for concern after this game. With Russell being a mediocre team this year, it brings into question - can the Rams really play with a powerhouse team like Beechwood?

 

Why are 'outsiders' so concerned with games that may never happen? This is about last night period. A good team and good fans should enjoy the moment. Seasons like this don't happen every year, no matter how good your program is. Look at how much complaining is done regarding a 6-4 Russell team. They (Russell)are a legitimate contender in 3A. Look at what Coach McGlone said in the paper this morning about Raceland. He said they have what it takes to be in Louisville but you have to see what happens. Our '06 team was just as talented as this year and lost in the 3rd round. I, personally am going to savor this victory until Monday morning and then I will worry about how we game plan for West Carter and avenge an enbarrassing performance in Olive Hill last year. As far as I am concerned we are 0-0 and looking to win our first game next Friday night. Let us worry about West Carter ONLY until after next Friday.

I guess you are right, HCT. It just gets to me that we can't enjoy a victory without negativity regarding the future that may or not come to pass. I would love to debate RangerBob in another thread, but this is the wrong thread for that post. Russell and Raceland left it on the field and we should congratulate both for a great high school game. But to start saying, and I paraphrase "you're not good enough to play Beechwood." Is demeaning to the effort of both teams last night. I told anybody who discussed last nights game prior to the game that we better watch out because Russell was better than all the negative talk, but all anyone wanted to see was a 50 point victory margin. Did I want it? Heck yeah! I'd love to be able to beat Russell every year like that because that would mean we had a great team, too.

They absolutely did.

Regardless of what Russell's record is, IMO they are still a good football team. You can't go 10-0 & 9-1 etc. every year. 6-4 is still a good regular season record and now a new season begins for the Devils where every opponent begins 0-0. Abrams is a very good RB and I was impressed with the Cordle kids arm.

If Russsell can give the effort they gave last night they can make a run in the playoffs.

Burnout, you have had some awakening maybe but you still need another cup or two of coffee to come out of that fog your in. I bolded the line about Raceland having trouble stopping the Russell running game and my comment is...What?? Raceland's outstanding lineman R. Logan should be given an honorary Russell jersey :eek:, he was in the Devil backfield as much as the Russell backs were . Russell's outstanding RB (Abrams) broke two runs of around 35 and 60 yards for two td's. As I said in another thread w/o those two big plays this game wasn't close. Raceland's "D" with the exeption of two plays stuffed Russell's attack. Russell did fairly well on the pass.

I agree Ram, I did think that Raceland would win this one by around a 3 TD margin though and I was way off. Russell was well prepared and played an outstanding game.

I sure thought that Raceland would win by a larger margin. Here's one I don't understand, how in the world do you march it down the field by running the Power-I and then abandon it? Russell would have made some hay with that formation had they continued it. I didn't quite get that one. And there were only around 6000 folks shy of 10,000. However, I think that 3000 of them drove.:irked:

Not bad advice from someone who was going to send Raceland home with their backsides whooped if I remember correctly;)

This was truly a great game on both sides. Just the way it should be and I hope future games are as excitng. It's high school ball and mistakes happen. I saw this game as 2 heavyweights slugging it out for 15 rounds and going down to a split decision. I beleive both teams came away with valuable playoff experience. The Rams see that they can play with a quality team and win. The Devils see that they have heart and can complete a tough game and come away positive. Good luck to both teams.

I honestly thought that Russell would win this game so I really wasnt that surprised by the score. If Baily plays Russell wins but congrats to Raceland.

Raceland was by far the better team in this game, period!!!! Robby Logan is the beast. But one boy that I would like to see his name mentioned some is Cody Grant. H is also a beast. I knew that Raceland wanted this game bad and I knew they would win, but I also knew it would be a close game. Congrats to the the Rams. I really want to make a trip to Louisville this year.
