Raceland 30 Russell 23

Featured Replies

You guys can hack on Willy, but I've seen Raceland once anyway before, and frankly Russell was the main reason Raceland didn't put up 45. I think he has a point. I agree with Willy. And some are trying to hedge their overwhelming Raceland predictions by explaining the narrow margin away as a poor effort. Enjoy this victory folks, but giving the opposition some due is in order.:thumb:

Once again, good luck to both in the postseason.

Before this game Friday night, the Devil fans downed Raceland, talked about their "OVERRATED" line, and even metioned how Russell would dominate Raceland's OL and DL. Never was Raceland given their due, so why should we get on here and give Russell's theirs now. Nobody said it was a poor effort by the Rams, they just made some mistakes this game they don't usually make. Russell came out on Senior night and played a heck of a ball game, but on this Halloween night, in the "RAIL CITIES BOWL", the Devils could not "D-RAIL" the Rams!!!:dancingpa

Just an observation, but barely winning against Russell, although a win is a win, should be a cause of concern for Raceland heading into the playoffs.
No concern I promise, we'll be ready next week. In Ram-land we don't panic, we just go back to work!:thumb:
I honestly thought that Russell would win this game so I really wasnt that surprised by the score. If Baily plays Russell wins but congrats to Raceland.

You say that you thought Russell would win and that you are not surprised by the score. You do realize that the team with 30pts. came out the victor and.......... it wasn't Russell.

Also the Rams had a TD called back so they were not that far off from their per game scoring average so since we are playing the what if game, allow me to ask you this. What if the TD had counted and the Rams went for two and made it, would you be surprised by the score then?

From what I understand, Raceland was at full strength and Russell wasnt. Russell was without the best play maker.

But like I said in an earlier post, Russell has no excuses on why they lost.

So, IFRaceland gets lucky enough to play Beechwood in the playoffs wonder what the excuse is going to be IF Raceland loses.

I give Raceland alot of credit but I just dont like how you all put it out there like Raceland is the supreme team among the area teams.:sssh:

Well we did beat the 2 best in the area. Not including JC, which I don't really consider an area team. Also won our district and the EKC. Not to bad.

Folks, I think we have to understand that Raceland was playing a different kind of football tonight. Beechwood and LCA was there scouting, and Raceland was preparing for the playoffs. Raceland did not run a lot of the plays and formations that they normally run. This was a different kind of offense. I think that the Raceland coaching staff wanted see if Raceland could win a big game running the ball, instead of passing.

They were making Raceland mulit-dimensional. I think Raceland played well, not perfect, and they won't. It was just a different Raceland.

Russell played very well, and I have to say they played better then I expected. I had heard from Russell fans that they did not play with emotion, and I have to say it looked like they had plenty of emotion tonight. I think this game may have done a lot for Russell in getting them ready for the playoffs. If they play like this in the playoffs, I think many will be surprised.

Russell played well, and my hat is off to them, they never gave up and played hard for four quarters.

Denton and Carver had a great night, I can't wait to see their stats. Robbie Logan was a defensive beast. He is a D1 lineman and deserves much credit as does the entire Raceland OL/DL, they have been the catalyst for Raceland all year and does not get enough credit. Big plays by Watson, Selvage, Kelly, and Boyles. Big FG by Preston. Truely a team effort.

Good luck to Russell, I hope the make a big splash in the playoffs and finish out strong.

I know Coach Raines and 3 or 4 asst. and Qb Witt were at the Hazard game last night watching Hazard and LCA first round opp. Lynn Camp

Raceland was not at full strength. Two starting corners Hamilton & Tolliver were out. Tolliver is also a major weapon on offense.

From what I understand, Raceland was at full strength and Russell wasnt. Russell was without the best play maker.

Raceland was not at full strength and has not been for several weeks, we just don't choose to use it as an excuse or crutch. Tolliver was out at corner, and was out against LCA. Three TD's were scored on the corner that he would have been playing. He will be back for LCA II.

I know you hate everyone, including your own coach, but we all love you.:thumb:

:thumb: I just finished watching the game on t.v.. I agree with you on all points made. Raceland imo made it's mistakes (plenty of them) on the offensive side of the ball.

Raceland's defense looked very good once again. Russell broke 2 big plays with Abrams (that kid is a very good football player;)) for td's, runs of around 35 and 65 I believe it was. Take away those two big plays and this one is not close. I had not seen Russell untill tonight and I know that the WLGC radio crew made mention that they had changed a couple of things on defense that they hadn't been doing all season. Making adjustments in the secondary/LB keys. As I said, I am not sure what they were talking about bc I haven't seen Russell this season before tonight.

Russell has a good football team, their kids played hard and just were beaten by a better team tonight. Last year Russell was the better team in this game, tonight Raceland was. I hope that this series can go on and be a competative one like these first two have been. Russell should no doubt win the majority of the games between the two but one should never count :walk:Raceland out of this game. I can promise that Raceland will come to play and give it everything they have from the opening kickoff ntill the final buzzer.

I have had my fun on this thread and taken a couple of shots and given a couple. Also, I don't really think that much of the fire truck parade either, was just having fun with my post about it earlier. The way I look at this one was the Rams coaches prepared the team for a win, the Rams expected to win, knew they would win, went out and executed and got the win.....................On to next weeks game now.:thumb:

I guess it was Russell's fault your defense did'nt make those play's as well......

I can not guarantee you what the outcome of Raceland's playoff run will be but I can guarantee you that the Ram fans, players and coaching staff will not make excuses after a Raceland loss. From what I have read the only excuse mentioned came from you. It appears you may have swallowed a bitter pill. A nice cold drink of Orange Crush may take the bad taste away.;)

I don't think anyone has stated that Raceland is the "Supreme" team as you like to say, but now that you brought it up, it is hard to dispute it since they remain unbeaten up to this point and have beaten everyone in this area that is on their schedule. However, it is your opinion and you are entitled to it. If what the Raceland supporters post is not to your expectations simply turn to page two. You have had your say and I had mine. This game is over and in the books and it is now time to move on to this weeks game.

:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: Very well said cville! I had acknowledge this post. As for any mention of any playoff game we will take up that discussion whenever that time may get here. Another poster mentioned a possible playoff game with Beechwood and tried to cut Raceland with that. Again...."IF" that were to happen then it would not be a playoff game but rather the State Title game and I woud be thrilled that the Rams made it that far. Maybe some didn't do their homework on it before they posted:D.

Doesn't matter though and as I said we will discuss any future games when that time comes, right now it is the week of the West Carter game for us and I believe that there is already a thread started on it.

So, should some want to try and cut Raceland fans posts on this one then you can have at it if looking in the rear view mirror is what they want to do.

One final comment on this one and I am done, the story of this game was.....Raceland - 30 Russell - 23

The Rams put "Hank " in the "Tank".:thumb:
