Maybe there just not as good as you guy's think they are then,losing to a weak Russell going into the fourth quarter is not very encouraging !

My opinion of when Russell let this game get away was after they drove down and took the lead starting the second half,held Raceland and got great field position and tried to throw the ball 3 straight plays,if they would have continued running the ball and drove it in, would have put a lot of pressure on Raceland.May have been a different outcome.

I agree. Russell is not down this year as many Russell fans are saying. They are a power in their class. Our Raceland team made some corrections and held on for the victory. This was very good win leading up to playoff games for our Rams.

I thought that the middle of the field was open for Raceland in many instances and frankly thought that they'd throw it, but they didn't. And for what it's worth, I thought Russell threw it better than I expected, and Raceland threw it less than I expected. The stats may suggest otherwise, however the Rams sure seemed to run their routes just far enough when they did throw it to move the chains.

I agree doc! The pass was there all night. And russell was getting zero pressure on boyles. But take it or leave it we got the W, that's all that matters.

Raceland did not run a lot of the plays and formations that they normally run. This was a different kind of offense. I think that the Raceland coaching staff wanted see if Raceland could win a big game running the ball, instead of passing.

 

They were making Raceland mulit-dimensional. I think Raceland played well, not perfect, and they won't. It was just a different Raceland.

 

Russell played very well, and I have to say they played better then I expected. I had heard from Russell fans that they did not play with emotion, and I have to say it looked like they had plenty of emotion tonight. I think this game may have done a lot for Russell in getting them ready for the playoffs. If they play like this in the playoffs, I think many will be surprised.

Denton and Carver had a great night, I can't wait to see their stats. Robbie Logan was a defensive beast. He is a D1 lineman and deserves much credit as does the entire Raceland OL/DL, they have been the catalyst for Raceland all year and does not get enough credit. Big plays by Watson, Selvage, Kelly, and Boyles. Big FG by Preston. Truely a team effort.

 

Good luck to Russell, I hope the make a big splash in the playoffs and finish out strong.

Not having Bailey available was a big deal for Russell. Especially on the offensive end. Hope he heals soon, the week off should help.

I just enjoyed the atmosphere, it was a great crowd, two great teams, and a great football game. That is what high school football is about. Plus, I couldn't go anywhere with out having to stop and talk to people I knew. I almost never got to the bathroom. It was a great time.
